Saying the truth outloud: Afraid, but not.

I am, afraid.

Yet, not.

Terrified, yet not.

Two weeks ago, I received some work news that put me on my knees.

A few days after that, I received some health kneez that put me on my knees, leaving me breathless and still.

Still.

Still, I managed to peel myself off the canvas in order to try again.

Still, I find myself, breathless and still.

Still.

Uncertain, still, I step forward, still.

Steps still uncertain. Still, I step forward.

Timid, yet not.

Afraid, yet not.

Hopeful.

Still.

And, yet.

Yet, not knowing.

What may come next.

Which makes me, afraid and still, still.

After this devastating health news, I find I am tired of dealing with all the devastation from new work this, that and the other thing and things.

I no longer want to work for work sake. It is no longer working for me.

I want to leap, afraid, into the arms of my dreams. Will they catch me? I don’t know.

Still, I long.

Still, I sit here, still. Silently contemplating the cost of action, of inaction.

The clock is ticking, still.

My heart wants to leap.

Not, knowing.

Yet, knowing He shall catch me as I fall.

going still,

Cassandra

  1. Sometimes, we know, deep down, we know exactly what we want to do. We know who we are and why we’re here. It’s not always easy having the guts to be that person, to do the things we know we want to do. Dealing with health and work worries at the same time is extra tough. I’m sorry to hear that life throws all these problems at you… like you didn’t have enough on your plate already! Wishing you courage and strength for what’s to come… and if you have to snuggle up under the duvet for a while before you’re ready to release Super-Cassandra, then by all means, rest! Sending you hugs and virtual apple cake (sorry, can’t squeeze it through WordPress).

    1. 🥰. I took the leap of faith, at work, at let ALL of me show both workwise and ministry wise and was able to speak into the lives of four peers and leadership ALL day. I forgot the toils of the toughness of the department I am helping in and was able to encourage them to follow their dreams and reach for the promotions they have longed to do and were afraid to do. Sometimes, life has us do hard things in order to help ourselves and others.❤
