You are not alone.

“I’m lonely “.

What I texted one of my sisters. I have been living alone, away from all family since 2016. Seven years.

I had to hear the most awful news a child could hear, alone.

I had to go through terrifying financial times where I didn’t think I would make it, alone.

I had to hear devastating health news and deal with it’s aftermath, alone.

I have had to deal with blow after blow after blow after blow, alone.

Alone, yet not.

Sometimes, not having some skin around can feel awfully lonely. During those times, it is important to understand that we are NOT alone.

On the other end of my text, sis texted back.

Back and forth, sis and I cut up, via text. Back and forth, I yakked with mom, as she was in heaven, sipping coffee and telling her of my say. Back and forth, I yakked with God and Life, pouring out my heart and letting all know that I was here. Here, still. Still, waiting. Still, loving best I can. I am lonely, I said, knowing I am not alone.

blessed,

Cassandra

  1. I totally hear you, Cassandra. Feeling lonely is very real and can be a dark, overwhelming emotion. You’re not alone, though. Never alone. Your folk will always be with you. In your heart, or just a text away.

    1. I REFUSE to allow lonely to keep me lonely. Why I work so hard to try and help other folk understand they are not alone. The dark places do not have to remain dark and we do not have to remain dark within them. Some days, Britta, we just gotta say outloud ‘I am’ this or that and allow our feelings to help us find our way out of the dark.
