Fighting giants: Keep throwing hands.

Numbers 13:30-33: 30And Caleb stilled the people before Moses, and said, Let us go up at once, and possess it; for we are well able to overcome it.

31But the men that went up with him said, We be not able to go up against the people; for they are stronger than we.

32And they brought up an evil report of the land which they had searched unto the children of Israel, saying, The land, through which we have gone to search it, is a land that eateth up the inhabitants thereof; and all the people that we saw in it are men of a great stature.

33And there we saw the giants, the sons of Anak, which come of the giants: and we were in our own sight as grasshoppers, and so we were in their sight.

God and I were throwing hands this morning:

God: Write.

Me: I’m tired.

God: I know. Write.

Me: I don’t feel like being about being about it. Not, today.

God: I know. Write.

Me: I have to work today. I am a bit miffed You did NOT come through with my sabbatical.

God: I know. Write.

Me: I don’t FEEL like fighting no stupid giants, today. Maybe, tomorrow.

God: I know. You may not have a tomorrow. Write.

Me: Hmm…can’t argue with that one…

God: Write.

Me: I will.

*Cassandra began throwing hands. She fought with all within her. She threw as many haymakers as she could to beat back the darkness. She scratched, at the eyes of deception. She clawed, at the voice of lies. She karate-chopped, through division. She strangled, the throat of hatred. She gave her all. All of her. Every drop. Until, tired, she looked upon her efforts and saw no apparent movement. Finally, she arose, climbed into The Father’s Lap and apologized for not being able to get rid of all the giants in the Promised Land. God whispered these words to her:

Beloved,

I have already taken care of those giants which would harm you. These giants, those left, you are well able to conquer. The mere fact you tried, it was ALL which I required. You won, beloved. The MOMENT you said yes. The INSTANT you tried, taking your fear with you, you won. Be encouraged.

Your Proud Abba,

Me(aka God)

The Father, gave Cassandra one last hug, gave her shoulder a gentle squeeze, and sent her back to being about being about it.*

Beloveds, keep throwing them hands. You CAN. You WILL. Why, you already have!

You got this.

I got you.

God and Life has us all.

I love you.

love your oyster cracker,

Cassandra

Fighting giants: God cleaned the mud from my glasses.

For the last few weeks, God has been helping me to re-imagine, to re-image, to-restore how I see myself, now.

Re-imagine, now, how I view the past, NOW. As, an adult.

Not, through the eyes of those who hurt me.

Not, through a society who is constantly trying to tell/show me the color of my skin is a crime, somehow.

Not, my dad who used to call me his ‘little monkey’, causing me to feel less than sub-human.

Not, through a hurting mom who told me once, in relation to me, that she should have kept the afterbirth and thrown the rest away. She said she was ‘joking’. I took her words, literally, and felt like afterbirth for many, many, many years….*sigh*. It has taken many years to get over THAT particular part of the elephant.

Not, even, as I used to see me because of THEM. Not, because of how I viewed myself. God and Life, showed me I didn’t truly see myself as ugly or unwanted. They told me, They SHOWED me, I was merely seeing myself through mud-splattered glasses.

Patiently, lovingly, relentless, both God and Life, polished my glasses. Leaving, ME to see through MY eyes. Leaving me, free, free beloveds!

Free, to love.

Free, to be.

Free, to be ridiculous.

Free, to be serious.

Free, to be a moron.

Free, to grow.

Free, to be obstinate.

Free, to make mistakes.

Free, to understand my mistakes are just that. Mistakes.

Free, to work through my crap.

Free, to be obstinate and not work through my crap.

Free, to be however my heart is fighting to be. My heart is doing her level best to be about being about it. She is trying to live. With INTENTION. She, meaning me, won’t always get it right. She, being me, won’t always have her act right.

Yet, I know, she as me, is doing the best she can.

THAT is enough.

It is, beloveds.

It is.

YOU are.

You ARE.

Enough.

Everything.

When God told His Folk to get on over to the other side of Jordan, He told them He had given them the land. Yet, there were giants there. Folk had to go and run those jokers out. Instead, they looked upon those seemingly too big giants and were afraid. They forgot that God and Life went with them, fought with them, encouraged them, restored them, supported them, loved them, rooted for them.

All these wandering jokers saw were giants of doubt, of fear, of anxiety and all manner of huffs and puffs and blowing their house down. Numbers 13:30-33:

30And Caleb stilled the people before Moses, and said, Let us go up at once, and possess it; for we are well able to overcome it.

You see, they were afraid because they saw themselves as grasshoppers IN THEIR OWN SIGHT. God knew they would be able to throw hands(slang for fighting) and root those jokers up out of here. Ha!

But, they felt small. And, feeling small, they didn’t possess the Promised Land. Land, ALREADY promised. They just had to take out the trash, handle those giants and be about being about it.

Moral of the story, beloveds? You are NOT the mud this world tried to cover your glasses in. Allow God and Life to clean the mud, from your glasses, so you can see the beautiful soul, called you. Then, you will be able to help Him reach other folks and let them know they don’t have to fear the giants, in the land.

Then, THEY will start throwing hands. Yea, boyz, they, others, you, me, we shall all get to throwing haymakers and will clobber fear, doubt, anxiety, division, strife, apathy and all the other things which keeps us from living together, in harmony, in love, in peace.

Give Him your glasses. Let Him help you to see the most priceless gift of all…YOU.

I fight with you.

I fight FOR you.

Fight for me, beloveds.

We all we got.

We are all we need.

Together.

Wow, yall almost got me singing ‘We Are The World’ there….hahahahahahahaha. I crack myself up.

Be encouraged.

You are loved.

You are NOT alone.

Keep on being…YOU.

His and yours,

Cassandra

Be God’s oyster cracker.

I used to feel soooooooooooooooooooooooooooooo small.

So, small.

So, o so not enough.

So, wait until you have this, that and the other thing.

I am so thankful that God loved me enough to let me know that I WAS enough. He let me know, I was HIS Oyster Cracker. This one, teeny, tiny, oyster cracker was more than enough.

For, God.

For, Life.

For, others.

For, me.

Beloveds, ah, beloveds, lift up your head. Look into Eyes which look upon you with Love. You are so much more than what you do, say, not say, give, not give. YOU, your essence. That teeny, weeny oyster cracker called you. The you the enemy, the you the world, the you that other shame-filled oysters try to convince you that you are not.

You are HIS!

HIS oyster cracker. Unique. None, has your taste(s). No one, has your essence. Nobody, has YOUR love. Nope. Nada. Nary a one.

Go.

Be.

Just be…YOU.

Someone is hungry.

Someone needs YOUR love.

Begin, beloveds, with you.

May I have an oyster cracker?

love,

Cassandra

#YourLifeMattersToMe

God gave me an oyster cracker.

God gave me an oyster cracker!

This was my secret I’m not admitting to THAT thought, after a frustrating nothing has happened again morning.

Crap!

i was sure God was going to come through, with my wishlist! I was positive Life was going to answer my dream call, today. I was certain I would be able to live my dream, soon.

This morning, I bounded out of bed, tore into the day as if it was one humungus just for me present, scrounged around for my shiny new life, for my exciting new dream and found….nuttin. Just the same same old, same old.

Well…crap.

Cassandra fished around, in the box called today, moved aside some same old same old, irritatingly cast aside not much going on here, exasperatedly tossed out some slow and steady wins the race, annoyingly snorted/sniffed/pouted her way through some act right, resignedly put on some try, then added some extra try, KNOWING it’s ALL about the try, anywho. Finally, FINALLY, Cassandra saw a shiny brown box. Success. Lifting the lid, Cassandra saw a note, written in The Father’s Loving Hand. The note read:

Beloved,

Thanks for your TRY. This is all I require. Keep TRYing.

love from Your Love,

Me(aka Abba)

Hmmm.

Hmmm?

*sigh*

*Cassandra felt like a complete idiot recognizing God HAD answered her prayer for a miracle. He gave her something sooooooooooooooooo very much more priceless than money, than a sabbatical, than this, or that. He had given her: The day.

Each and EVERY day contains many miracles if we but CHOOSE TO SEE THEM. Of a truth, beloveds, don’t we, more often than not, choose disappointment in not see what we thought we should see?

Don’t we secretly become angered when God and/or Life shows up in a way we don’t expect or think He would?

Let’s do, as mom would say, tell the truth and shame the devil, and admit we think God, at times, has given us a booby prize. Or, at the very least, an oyster cracker instead of the bread the bible said He would give. No, it may not have been a stone but sure does look like ONE tiny old oyster cracker!

I have had several disappointments the past few days. From, work. From, a family situation. From, only seeing 70 dollars in my GoFundMe Page. Felt like an idiot. I am going to tell the truth and shame the devil and admit it had been on me, ages and ages ago, to start one and share my dream. I had seen others make pages for the most ridiculous things, to me at least. Yet, those folks had the courage. And, some had gotten their desire/goal/dream met. I was afraid, you see, to be found wanting.

In the end, though, it was about the TRY. One more thing, to help me get closer to my year off to write. I can rest on THAT. And, no I don’t say this to get you to rush to my GoFundMe Page and give. Just sharing so you can get to know me. Why, cuz it helps YOU to get to know you.

My entire reason for this blog is to share these 3 main points with everyone I can get these words to:

You are loved.

You are NOT alone.

Keep on being…YOU.

That’s it. That’s all. I feel as though my heart, my love, my care, is nothing more than the oyster cracker I spoke of earlier. That said, if I AM but an oyster cracker, it’s a bit of SOMETHING on the tummy, is it not, beloveds?

Such as I have, I offer to you. Please KNOW you are loved and that you are NOT alone. Keep on being, you, beloveds. Keep on TRYing. Yes, I know, it gets awfully tired trying and trying and trying and trying and trying while seeing no movement. It’s all in the try. The outcome, well, just leave it to God and Life. Things may well not work out. Yet, you tried. He/she/they may not love you back. Yet, you tried. This, that or the other thing, may well not come to pass. Yet, you tried.

Let you TRY be enough, beloveds.

It IS enough.

STOP blaming you for results you can not foresee, forestall, change, erase and the like. You have done the TRY. Rest, beloved.

I rest with you.

your oyster cracker,

Cassandra

Reimagine your life: Cheese toasted bread.

I have been writing. All day. And, I mean ALL day. This is why I have been praying for a sabbatical. I can not work 24/7. Yet, my heart can no longer leave these words, inside. Someone needs them. Starting with me. Yet, I can’t not not work, either….*sigh*.

So, I stopped, around 3 pm. Told myself I would make lunch, eat, continue writing. I stopped, made lunch. No one told my writer, though, that it was time to stop writing. My writer kept right on writing. Sadly, my once hot, fantastic-smelling grilled chicken sandwiches, wilted, gave up the ghost, ending up as cold, forlorn, what the world are you waited on monuments of…don’t ask ME, beloveds, I have been writing ALL day!

Finally, I drug my writer, into the kitchen, to reheat my sandwiches. Last night, I thought of sprinkling bread with shredded cheese for some lovely golden, chewy, cheesy goodness.

Ah.

Aha!

Re-imaging, I decided to add a splash of shredded cheese to my now cold sandwiches. I resurrected both, in my air-fryer. In minutes, the wondrous smell of cheese, Irish butter, grilled chicken tenders and steak bread wafted themselves towards heaven. Long story short, beloveds, I now have two wonderfully re-imagined sandwiches growing cold as I type out these words.

Yikes!

Egads!

Lately, God and Life have me watching old movies from the 70s, 80s, and 90s. One, in particular, I have been longing to see for more than 30 years. It had such a profound impact, on my heart. To this day, I have NO idea why. Yet, I would search and search for it. I could not remember the actress. I could not remember the title. I could only remember snippets. These snippets, somehow, someway, ministered to my heart. They minister, still, at just the vague thoughts of them.

I have been searching and praying, praying and searching, for God to remind me of the name of the movie. God, as per His usual, remained silent. As, alas, did Life. They allowed me to go through the decades, yearning for, seeking out, stubbornly, then angrily asking God to tell me WHY this movie was soooooooooooooo important for my heart to watch, again.

Monday morning, after I had given up, for a while, from looking for this movie, I found whilst looking for other movies to watch.

I found it?

I found it!?

I FOUND IT!!!

I didn’t know what to DO with myself. Hesitantly, I started the movie to make sure it was the right one.

YYYYYYYYYYYAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAASSSSSSSSS!

Truth be told, beloveds, once I saw it was the one, I quickly turned it off. I find, to my surprise, I am not quite ready to watch it. Knowing, I will learn something about me. Something God and Life have been waiting a lifetime, for me to find, to see.

The search, I have found, was never about the movie. The search, I am FINALLY understanding, has led to who I have been waiting for, all this time.

Ha! Thought I was going to let you off the hook, beloveds, and give up the secret of who I have been searching for. Of, what I have been waiting for. Haven’t you guessed by now? If not, you shall find out. When it is YOUR turn to see, know and understand. God and Life will not reveal these things, to you. Until, you are ready. How do you KNOW when you are ready?

Ah.

Aha!

You have asked the question. Buckle up. Your life is fixing to get pretty interesting, from here.

In the meantime, let us continue on this, on my particular journey.

Getting back to the old movies….lol.

As I have been watching these old friends, I have been re-imaging my life. Re-imaging through the eyes of:

God.

Life.

Jesus.

Me!

Re-configuring, re-wiring, re-investing, re-living, re-loving through eyes full of love, peace, hope, joy and all of the life-affirming feelings, emotions, experiences and the like.

Ah.

Aha!

*Cassandra hugs herself, so full of love she could barely contain it. Love seeped out from everywhere. IT CAME FROM EVERYWHERE!*

I have plenty left over for you, beloveds. Such as I have, I offer you. It really is fantastic. As am I. So are you.

You are loved.

You are NOT alone.

Be encouraged.

His and yours,

Sweetpea aka Cassandra

#YourLifeMattersToMe

Note: The bible tells us not to despise small beginnings. It is NOT how you start. It’s how you FINISHED. God ain’t done with us. Not yet. In the meantime, if your sandwiches have grown cold, re-imagine them. Re-imagine YOU. Add, some cheese. No need of lamenting the former sandwich. Best be about enjoying the sandwiches you currently have…*shrug*.

My really ugly clay ashtray: Keep giving your heart.

In school, we made these really ugly clay ashtrays. Mis-shapened. Brown. Super ugly. The teacher would take these ugly ashtray, each one, lovingly putting them in the kiln, ugly and all. Each ugly, clay ashtray, would come out of the kiln.

Shiny,

Misshapened.

Ugly.

Then, we would, proudly, take our really ugly clay ashtray, giving it to our loved one.

I used to feel like one of those really ugly clay ashtrays. Thankfully, I can now say I used to feel that way. It pains me, deeply, to have ever felt that MY love was too ugly, too loud, too this, too that, for the world to love me back.

I used to believe that MY love, was too ordinary, too passionate, too what in the fresh hell is THAT, ew, to be shared.

I used to think that MY love, would never be returned. In return, I loved everyone but me.

Yikes!

Egads!

It was ONLY, after FIRST learning about, learning how, and ALLOWING, God, The Father, Jesus, The Son, and The Holy Ghost, the Comforter, in that I was able to love:

Me.

Life.

God.

Others.

After a while, I could present myself, my really ugly clay ashtray me. Slowly, I was able to look up. Hesitantly, I was able to look into Their eyes and see love and acceptance, of my really ugly clay ashtray.

I found They displayed this really ugly clay ashtray, with pride. They let everyone see what I had made!

Look at her, They cried. Look at this beautiful life she has made for Us!?

All of heaven, would rush to gave upon this really ugly clay ashtray, called me. In unison, the angels sang. In harmony, Jesus shed tears, of love. Just for me. In concert, The Father, would add His tears, thankful I had presented my love, this really ugly clay ashtray, called me. Yea, He loved me. With an Ever-lasting Love, has He loved me.

Now, beloveds, I give myself, this really ugly ashtray, called me, to you. This love, such as I have, I offer to you. If no one receives it, that’s okay. It is there. As am I. That, is enough.

being that really ugly clay ashtray,

Cassandra

#YourLifeMattersToMe

Note: Keep giving your heart. Starting with you. Be encouraged. You are loved. You are not alone,

Don’t allow angry to keep you.

Don’t allow anger to keep you.

Do NOT allow anger to keep you…angry.

Anger, can, will, and does keep you:

Hostage.

Hurting.

Angry.

In turn, the anger WILL, does and shall team up with pride, disappointment, disillusionment and ALL their friends. This mob will then lock up your heart and will throw away the key. Pride, will then become your warden, your jailer, your forever taunter and tormentor.

This is why we are admonished to put it away. The anger. NOT, the justified feelings which comes from being hurt. Deal with those feelings, in a healthy, intentional manner then keep it moving. Tell anger, to move on out the way, so you can find out and deal with the TRUE source of the hurt, the pain, the whatever in the fresh hell is going on.

Anger is one of those emotions who absolutely refused to be satisfied, silenced or subdued. Anger, stomps about tearing up everything in it’s path. After a while, we forget what the world started the anger, in the first place. We just mad. Dammit! We STAY mad, fresh hell, until God and/or Life ask us what we are angry about.

I will do as mom said do and shame the devil by admitting to a dream I had, early this morning. I was not going to tell on myself. Not until I realized my pride was telling me to keep THAT part, to myself. Whenever pride does this, I rush, now, to do the opposite.

Early this morning, I had a dream where I was sooooooooooooooooooooooo angry with mom. I don’t remember why. I ended up yelling at her, at the top of my lungs…..”F— you, mom!”

Yikes!

Egads!

I would NEVER have uttered those words, in real life, to her. For one, I would have been picking up teeth from where ever they landed. Note, black mamas do NOT allow their kids to speak that way!

I was so startled, I woke myself up. Out of sorts, I hid. Or,tried to hide, my heart in a drawer.

Now, awake, I refuse to allow anger to hold my heart hostage. I am doing the hard work of addressing those things, head on, which my anger would like for me to keep me from dealing with. Anger KNOWS, once it is exposed and dealt with, it no longer has control over…YOU.

Don’t allow anger to keep…YOU.

Tell anger, along with pride, along with hurt, to take THREE seats and keep being about being about it.

You got this.

God has us all.

Be encouraged.

being about it with you,

Cassandra

#YourLifeMattersToMe

Don’t allow hurt to hurt you.

Life hurts, sometimes.

Rather, the things that come upon us, while we are LIVING life, can hurt us.

And, that hurt often leaves us feeling, well, hurt.

By, God.

By, Life.

By, Love.

By, family.

By, friends.

By, situations.

By, circumstances.

By, fresh hell, by any and everything all at the same time, at times!

Crimeny!

Whew!

Here we find ourselves, beloveds, just one big old bag of hurt. Most have NO idea what do DO with the hurt.

So, we distract ourselves with food, with work, with, alcohol, with activity, with whatever is the LOUDEST thing to distract us from the hurt.

Insodoing, the hurt, or so we think, becomes us. Hurt is cunning. Hurt tries to become a parasite. It tries to attach itself, to our heart, in order to take over our actions, which will give it leadership, over our lives.

Thus, we find that HURT, now drives us. Hurt, now speaks FOR us. Hurt, now lives and breathes, within us. Hurt, now demands more room in EVERY relationship. Hurt, now builds walls to keep God, Jesus, life, Life, family, friends, society, the church, and all other people, places and things that God puts in our lives to comfort, heal and hold us.

You see, Hurt knows something we do not: Hurt KNOWS the INSTANT you turn on the light, darkness HAS to go. Hurt thrives, in darkness.

However, beloveds, God lives in BOTH darkness and light. You are loved. You are NOT alone.

Don’t allow hurt to hurt you. Rush your hurt to:

The Father’s Lap.

Life’s hands.

The Cross.

Do not allow hurt to make you hurt you. You are much to precious and priceless!

You got this, beloveds.

God and Life has us all.

Be encouraged.

here with you in the darkness,

Cassandra

#YourLifeMattersToMe

Don’t allow your pride to keep you.

Don’t allow your pride to keep you.

Do NOT allow YOUR pride, beloveds, to keep you from:

Life.

Love.

God.

Others.

You.

Especially, you.

It IS truth pride goeth BEFORE the fall. Both God and Life gives us ample time to not do the thing, to refrain from saying the words, to stop the action(s) before those actions wreck something beautiful.

Pride, though, is SUCH a prideful, needful, arrogant, impudent thing. Pride can not stand to be seen. Pride can not abide air being given to anything but serving it’s need for constants, consistent validation. Pride could care less about you or I. Pride is a ravenous beast that can never be satisfied.

Pride will never allow YOU to see you. For, once you see you, you will know you no longer need Pride to run your life. You will understand, once you see YOU, you don’t need pride to validate you. You won’t need to fill pride with likes, subscribes, views, sex, money, homes, things, things, and more things to feel the empty inside you.

Don’t allow your pride to keep you.

Don’t allow pride to keep you from YOU.

Now, that I have seen me, I tell pride where to get off at, on the daily, on the regular!

Ha!

Life is much too short, to allow ANYTHING to keep us from experiencing life the way it was meant to be lived:

Loudly.

Unapologetically.

Fully.

Be encouraged, beloveds.

You are loved.

You are NOT alone.

Keep on being…YOU.

Tell pride to take two seats and love someone.

Starting with you.

loving with you,

Cassandra

Mother’s Day: Stay in the fight.

So, my friend would NOT allow me to withdraw into my pre Mother’s Day whatever the hell this is that comes up before Mother’s Day.

I don’t know how she knew. Just knew she knew enough to keep pestering me to ask how I was doing.

Pride wanted me to lie and say all was well. Pride also wanted me to tell her to go kick rocks and leave me alone.

Grief wanted me to be honest with her letting me know how much comfort it is to allow oneself to BE comforted, in the moment.

Shame wanted me to keep my loud mouth shut as I used to in the past. Shame reminded me that no one REALLY loved ME. Yes, they love and need my encouraging words when THEY are hurting. As for me,…me.

Doubt wanted me to ‘test’ my friend. In order to ‘be sure’ she loved me. Doubt gave me really childish and dumb suggestions such as ignoring her texts, saying something really stupid like she wouldn’t care anyway so why waste her time. I told Doubt to shut up already.

Pain, well, pain didn’t talk at all. She just got to throwing them hands and knocking me about the room until I was too tired to cry Uncle.

Tired was, hell, tired was just too blasted tired of this now yearly struggle to keep moving forward yada damn yada, after doing the IMPOSSIBLE of watching mom’s casket being lowered into the ground. Dammit, mom. WHY, did you leave me with this now external fight?!

Sad, was truly sad and said it was okay to not be okay until I was READY to be okay. I told sad, okay.

Mad was, of course, mad and loving the freedom of stomping about, for no good reason. All that stomping around got on even tired’s last nerves. Sad escorted mad to the door and told mad to be about being outta here! That, made me smile.

Smile, having been granted entrance, sneakily brought joy, hope and peace with her, knowing Jesus ALWAYS accompanies joy hope and peace as He never likes to be left out when they are present.

Hearing all the joyful racket, The Father sat down His crown and went to join the shenanigans.

Acceptance, knowing entrance would now be granted, knocked on my heart and said:

Acceptance: Your mom was tired.

Me: I know.

Acceptance: It was her time.

Me: I know.

Acceptance: You must stay in the fight, beloved.

Me: I know.

Acceptance: You must NOT withdraw, from life.

Me: I know.

Acceptance: Let grief finish up her time and tell her to take sad with her. Be sure to keep joy, hope and peace with you. Tell them to keep the noise down. They have given me a bit of a headache.

Me: I will…lol.

After telling pride to kick rocks, I got up and got after it.

Thanks, my friend, for not allowing me to withdraw.

Thanks My Friend, Jesus, for not allowing me to withdraw.

Thanks, Father, for not allowing me to withdraw.

Thanks, Try, for not allowing me to withdraw. I tried. Yet, my Try absolutely refused to allow me to withdraw.

Now, I find myself dragging my tired and my sad, through the rest of the day to see what I will find at the end of it.

To be continued.

staying in the fight,

Cassandra

#YourLifeMattersToMe

Note: Hard times are just that: hard. It’s important to understand how much hard times hurts. Yet, it is equally important to understand you are NOT your pain. You are NOT your hard to me. You are going THROUGH a hard time. Simple as that.

The ONLY thing you MUST do is to…try.

That’s it. That’s all. You will win, some days. You will lose, some days. Yet, in the end, you will win this game called life. Stay in the fight. Stay. STAY! Be encouraged. Whatever your Mother’s Day is, be encouraged. You are loved. You are NOT alone. Keep on being…YOU.
