We’re watching A Day Late and a Dollar Short, starring Whoopi Goldberg.

Without spoiling anything, we’re stepping into the life of a complicated family with plenty of history, plenty of personalities, plenty of problems, and a mother right in the middle of it all.

There are relationships that need attention.

Old wounds that haven’t exactly packed their bags.

Family members who have some things to work out.

And apparently, enough family business to keep all of us sitting upright with the popcorn. 🍿

Now here’s the important part.

I am NOT promising that this movie will become homework.

Saturday Matinee has one very important rule:

EVERYTHING DOES NOT HAVE TO BECOME AN ASSIGNMENT.

Sometimes I watch a movie and something reaches right through the screen and makes me think about faith, love, race, disability, relationships, forgiveness, courage, foolishness, or this beautiful complicated 🌎 we share.

Sometimes a movie asks me a question I wasn’t expecting.

Sometimes I recognize myself.

Sometimes I recognize somebody else.

Sometimes I change my mind.

And sometimes?

I eat popcorn and watch the movie. 🍿

Both count.
