Healing in Silence Is Still Healing 💜

Soul Matters — Thursday, October 22, 2026 — 6 PM

🎶 Inspired by Healing in Silence.

Beloveds, life has a peculiar way of making noise.

Even when nobody is talking.

Hard doesn’t always knock.

Pain certainly hasn’t learned the meaning of a polite invitation.

And Grief?

Well, Grief can find you in the middle of just about anything.

A quiet room.

A cup of coffee.

An ordinary afternoon.

A song.

Especially a song.

And suddenly there you are, remembering, thinking, feeling things you didn’t expect to feel at that particular moment.

Sometimes I laugh.

Sometimes I cry.

Sometimes I do both so close together I have to wonder what in the world is going on.

Life be lifing.

And I am still living.

I’ve been thinking about the things that happen inside us that nobody else gets to see.

The decision to try again after yesterday took everything you had.

The moment you realize you’re angry, but don’t want anger making the next decision.

The first time you laugh without immediately questioning whether you’re allowed to be happy.

The choice to forgive.

The courage to acknowledge that you still miss somebody with your whole heart.

None of those moments requires an audience.

And none becomes less meaningful because nobody applauded.

Some healing happens in silence.

But I want to consider something else.

Silence doesn’t automatically mean healing.

Sometimes people are quiet because they’ve been hurt.

Sometimes because they’ve been dismissed.

Sometimes because they’ve become exhausted from explaining.

And sometimes because the words themselves are difficult to find.

That’s why I don’t want to tell somebody that being quiet means everything is getting better.

I want to pay attention to the person.

To what they’re experiencing.

To what they’re choosing.

To what they need.

And I want that same kindness in the way I examine my own life.

There are days when I can point to something I’ve accomplished and grin.

Other days, my victory isn’t quite so obvious.

Maybe I found the strength to get through another difficult morning.

Maybe I accepted help without allowing guilt to tell me I was worth less because I needed it.

Maybe I gave myself an opportunity to think.

Maybe I simply enjoyed something beautiful.

Perhaps I laughed at Hard’s ridiculous behavior.

Because let’s face it, that character has provided enough material for an entire comedy franchise. 🤣

And don’t get me started on Ref Pain and that whistle!

But underneath the laughter, there’s something I take seriously.

I am not only the difficult things that have happened to me.

I am also the person still discovering what life holds.

Still loving.

Still learning.

Still choosing.

Still finding reasons to smile.

And still sitting with My Father.

I don’t have to call everything good to believe He is good.

I don’t have to deny what hurts to welcome what brings joy.

And I don’t have to turn every private experience into a public testimony before it counts.

That’s the part of healing in silence that stays with me.

There are pieces of my life that I share because I love people and believe our stories can help one another.

And there are pieces that are simply between My Father and me.

Both matter.

Both belong to my life.

And through it all, love remains.

For the people who are here.

For the people I miss.

For the life I have.

And for the life I am still learning to live.

Psalm 147:3 tells us:

“He heals the brokenhearted and binds up their wounds.”

Beloveds, I don’t know everything tomorrow will hold.

I don’t have to.

Today, I am here.

My story hasn’t stopped.

And whether the world hears the work happening in my heart or not, my life still matters.

So does yours.
