YOU DON’T HAVE TO PERFORM TO KEEP YOUR PLACE ❤️🔥
Who Are You When You Cannot Earn Love by Being Useful?
Beloveds,
I have another uncomfortable question for us this morning.
👀❤️🔥
Have you ever wondered whetherpeople would still love you if you stopped being useful to them?
Not forever.
Just long enough that you couldn’t do what you’ve always done.
You couldn’t fix it.
Couldn’t pay for it.
Couldn’t organize it.
Couldn’t drive everybody.
Couldn’t cook.
Couldn’t clean.
Couldn’t work.
Couldn’t solve the problem.
Couldn’t be everybody’s emergency contact.
Couldn’t be the strong one.
Couldn’t be the person who always says:
“Don’t worry. I got it.”
What happens inside us when suddenly…
we don’t got it?
😭❤️🔥
For some of us, that question goes DEEP.
Because somewhere along the way, being helpful became more than something we did.
It became part of how we understood our value.
People needed us.
And being needed felt good.
People called us.
People depended on us.
People knew we would show up.
We were the fixer.
The encourager.
The caregiver.
The provider.
The responsible one.
The strong one.
The prayer warrior.
The funny one.
The one who held everybody together when everything started falling apart.
And without realizing it, we may have developed a quiet equation:
What I do for people = why I matter to people.
👀
That’s dangerous math.
Because eventually life may ask a question we weren’t prepared to answer:
Who are you when you cannot do what you used to do?
💔❤️🔥
❤️🔥 WHEN USEFULNESS BECOMES IDENTITY
There is absolutely nothing wrong with helping.
Serving is beautiful.
Giving is beautiful.
Caring for people is beautiful.
Working hard is beautiful.
Showing up is beautiful.
Jesus Himself taught us to serve.
But there is a difference between:
“Serving is something I do because I love.”
and:
“Serving is how I make myself worthy of love.”
WHEW.
❤️🔥❤️🔥❤️🔥
Those can look exactly the same from the outside.
Both people may cook the meal.
Both may give the ride.
Both may solve the problem.
Both may stay late.
Both may say yes.
But inside?
One person is giving freely.
The other may be quietly asking:
“If I stop doing this, will you still choose me?”
😭
That’s not merely generosity anymore.
That’s an audition.
And beloveds…
you should not have to audition every morning for your place in the hearts of people who genuinely love you.
💔 SOMETIMES WE PERFORM WITHOUT REALIZING IT
Maybe your performance isn’t achievement.
Maybe it’s being agreeable.
You never complain.
Never ask for much.
Never inconvenience anybody.
Never say what you really need.
Because somewhere inside:
Easy people are easier to love.
Maybe your performance is strength.
Nobody gets to see you crumble.
Because:
Strong people don’t scare people away.
Maybe your performance is giving.
You make sure everybody owes you less than you owe them.
Because:
If I’m always contributing, nobody can call me a burden.
Maybe your performance is humor.
Everybody gets the joke.
Nobody gets the tears.
😆💔
Maybe it’s caretaking.
You know everybody else’s needs before they speak them.
But when someone asks:
“What do YOU need?”
your whole brain suddenly goes:
Error 404. Request not found.
😭😆❤️🔥
We laugh.
But some of us know EXACTLY what I’m talking about.
❤️🔥 THEN LIFE CHANGES THE ASSIGNMENT
And this is where things can become painful.
Sometimes life takes away the very thing we used to prove our worth.
The worker can’t work.
The caregiver needs care.
The strong one becomes exhausted.
The healthy one becomes sick.
The person everybody leaned on suddenly needs something to lean against.
The financially secure person struggles.
The confident person loses confidence.
The encourager becomes discouraged.
The person who always had the answers finally whispers:
“I don’t know what to do.”
And if our identity was built entirely around usefulness…
this can feel like more than losing ability.
It can feel like losing value.
😭💔❤️🔥
That is where shame sneaks back in.
What good am I now?
What do I bring to anybody?
Everybody has to do things for me.
I’m not contributing enough.
I’m taking more than I’m giving.
They’ll eventually get tired of this.
And there it is again:
Performance.
Except now we’re terrified because we cannot perform at our previous level.
Beloved…
listen carefully.
❤️🔥 YOUR CAPACITY CHANGED. YOUR HUMAN VALUE DID NOT.
Those are different things.
Your capacity can fluctuate.
Your productivity can change.
Your income can change.
Your health can change.
Your mobility can change.
Your energy can change.
Your role in a family can change.
Your ability to care for others can change.
Your ability to work can change.
Your ability to contribute in familiar ways can change.
None of those measurements can adequately measure a human soul.
❤️🔥
Maybe you cannot give what you once gave.
That does not mean you give nothing.
Your presence matters.
Your story matters.
Your laughter matters.
Your wisdom matters.
Your listening matters.
Your honesty matters.
Your experience matters.
Your prayers matter.
Your affection matters.
Your encouragement matters.
Your existence matters to people who love you.
And sometimes?
You don’t have to produce ANYTHING in a particular moment.
You are allowed to simply be.
😭❤️🔥
That word can be terrifying for performers.
BE.
Not accomplish.
Not fix.
Not prove.
Not earn.
Not rescue.
Not impress.
Not compensate.
Just…
be.
❤️🔥 LOVE SHOULD HAVE ROOM FOR YOUR HUMANITY
Healthy love does not mean people never have expectations of us.
Relationships require responsibility.
Promises matter.
Commitments matter.
Effort matters.
Reciprocity matters.
This isn’t permission to neglect everybody and announce:
“Well, Cassandra said I don’t have to perform!”
ABSOLUTELY NOT. 😭😆
Don’t put that foolishness on me.
I’m talking about something entirely different.
I’m talking about the belief that:
If I cannot constantly produce value, I cease to HAVE value.
No.
Responsibility says:
“I should contribute according to my ability and commitments.”
Performance-based worth says:
“If my ability decreases, my worth decreases with it.”
That’s the lie we’re confronting.
❤️🔥
💔 LET PEOPLE LOVE THE PERSON, NOT JUST THE FUNCTION
This may be one of the hardest parts.
If you have spent years being the helper, people may genuinely love helping YOU.
Read that again.
Someone may feel honored to finally give something back.
Someone may have watched you pour and pour and pour.
And now they get to say:
“Sit down. I’ve got this.”
And your entire nervous system may respond:
ABSOLUTELY NOT. GIVE ME THAT DISH TOWEL.
😭😆❤️🔥
Because sitting feels wrong.
Receiving feels wrong.
Not contributing feels wrong.
But perhaps the person helping you isn’t thinking:
Look how useless they are.
Maybe they’re thinking:
“Finally. Let me love you for a minute.”
👀😭❤️🔥
And if you constantly snatch the opportunity away because you need to prove you’re still useful…
you may accidentally prevent somebody from expressing their love in the way THEY chose.
Sometimes receiving is generosity too.
Because receiving says:
“I trust your love enough to let you give it.”
❤️🔥 YOU DON’T HAVE TO PAY RENT FOR YOUR PLACE IN SOMEONE’S HEART
Oh, somebody needs that sentence today.
You do not have to pay emotional rent every month to remain worthy of healthy love.
😭❤️🔥
You don’t have to constantly ask:
Have I done enough?
Have I given enough?
Have I been useful enough?
Have I been easy enough?
Have I been strong enough?
Have I caused too much trouble?
Healthy love isn’t a landlord standing at the door on the first of every month:
“Where’s this month’s usefulness?”
😭😆❤️🔥
No.
Relationships need nurturing.
But love isn’t supposed to require constant proof that you deserve to exist inside it.
🙏🏾 JESUS AND THE LOVE THAT COMES FIRST
And this is where grace confronts our entire performance system.
Scripture says:
“But God commendeth his love toward us, in that, while we were yet sinners, Christ died for us.”
— Romans 5:8, KJV
Notice when the love came.
Not after everything was fixed.
Not after everybody performed beautifully.
Not after humanity finally became impressive enough.
While we were yet sinners.
Love moved first.
❤️🔥
And another Scripture says:
“We love him, because he first loved us.”
— 1 John 4:19, KJV
Again…
Look at the order.
He first loved us.
Then love flows from us.
Not:
Perform → earn love → maintain performance → hopefully remain loved.
But:
Loved → receive → become transformed → love flows outward.
😭❤️🔥
That order changes everything.
Because service becomes a RESPONSE to love instead of an APPLICATION for love.
WHEW.
Read THAT again.
Service should be a response to love—not an application for love.
❤️🔥❤️🔥❤️🔥
I don’t love so somebody will finally decide I’m valuable.
I love because love has already taught me something about my value and theirs.
I don’t serve God to convince Him to keep me.
I serve because I belong to Him.
I don’t care for people so they will never leave.
I care because loving people is part of who I want to become.
Now giving can breathe.
Now receiving can breathe.
Now love doesn’t have to carry the weight of proving that I deserve to exist.
❤️🔥 THE CASSANDRA CHALLENGE
Ask yourself:
“What do I believe I must continually DO so people will keep loving me?”
Be specific.
Be honest.
Maybe:
I have to be useful.
I have to be strong.
I have to say yes.
I have to fix everything.
I have to keep everybody happy.
I have to hide my needs.
I have to make people laugh.
I have to never become inconvenient.
Then ask:
“Who would I be if I stopped auditioning?”
👀❤️🔥
Sit with that.
❤️ DAILY LOVE CHALLENGE
Today, allow yourself one moment where you don’t earn your place.
Sit with someone.
Receive a phone call.
Accept a compliment.
Let somebody help.
Laugh.
Rest.
Exist.
And when the voice says:
“You should be doing something…”
answer:
“Being human is something.”
❤️🔥
🙌 DAILY VICTORY
Today I will remember:
My usefulness may change.
My capacity may change.
My circumstances may change.
My roles may change.
But I refuse to measure my entire worth by what I can produce for other people.
🙏🏾 MORNING PRAYER
Father,
Some of us have spent years trying to earn what we desperately wanted to receive freely.
Love.
Belonging.
Safety.
Acceptance.
A place.
We became useful.
Strong.
Dependable.
Easy.
Quiet.
Funny.
Productive.
Necessary.
And somewhere along the way, some of us forgot how to simply be Your children.
Teach us.
Help us serve from love instead of serving for love.
Help us give without auditioning.
Help us receive without shame.
Help us rest without believing we’ve become worthless.
Help us recognize the difference between healthy responsibility and desperate performance.
And when our capacity changes, remind us:
Our identity is bigger than our output.
For everyone waking up today wondering:
“What good am I now?”
meet them there.
Remind them that a changed life is still a life.
A changed body is still worthy of dignity.
A changed role does not mean no role.
A person who needs care still has love to give.
And a person who has nothing to give today…
is still a person worth loving today.
Amen.
😭❤️🔥
Beloveds,
Maybe you’ve spent your whole life making yourself indispensable because somewhere deep inside you believed:
If they need me enough, they won’t leave me.
But being needed and being loved are not always the same thing.
And perhaps this season is inviting us into something deeper.
Not:
“Keep me because I’m useful.”
But:
“Know me. Love me. Let me know and love you too.”
No audition.
No performance review.
No monthly emotional rent.
Just people learning how to love each other honestly.
Sometimes giving.
Sometimes receiving.
Sometimes carrying.
Sometimes being carried.
And sometimes simply sitting beside one another saying:
“I’m glad you’re here.”
😭❤️🔥
Maybe that sentence is enough for today.
You don’t have to perform to keep your place.
And tomorrow…
we bring this whole week home.
Because after guilt…
after shame…
after fear of being a burden…
after strings…
after vulnerability…
after performance…
there remains one final terrifying invitation:
OPEN YOUR HANDS.
Grace cannot be earned.
It can only be received.
👀🙏🏾❤️🔥
Unapologetically His.
Unapologetically yours.
Asking for A Friend,
Cassandra

IAM HERE!

I. AM. HERE! 👩🦽❤️🔥👑
Beloveds,
Look at this picture.
No—really.
LOOK.
I am standing.
But this post isn’t about standing.
Because some of us have spent far too long measuring life by what our bodies can do, what we’ve lost, what has changed, what takes longer now, or what somebody else thinks recovery is supposed to look like.
This picture says something much simpler.
I. AM. HERE.
Not the woman I was before everything changed.
Not some imaginary future version of me who has finally recovered enough to deserve celebration.
ME.
Here.
Now.
Alive.
Learning.
Growing.
Laughing.
Crying sometimes.
Getting frustrated sometimes.
Needing help sometimes.
Doing things differently sometimes.
And still completely, undeniably ME.
👩🦽❤️🔥
I have learned something about survival:
Sometimes we become so focused on getting back to where we were that we miss the miracle of discovering who we are becoming.
I don’t want to spend my life waiting to celebrate myself until everything works the way it once did.
I don’t want to postpone joy until recovery checks every box.
And I refuse to treat my life today like a waiting room for a supposedly better life tomorrow.
THIS IS MY LIFE.
And I am living it.
My wheelchair doesn’t erase me.
Needing assistance doesn’t erase me.
Doing something differently doesn’t make the accomplishment smaller.
A difficult day doesn’t cancel my progress.
And what my body cannot do today does not get to write the definition of who I am.
Different is not less.
Please hear that, beloveds.
Because maybe your life changed too.
Maybe your body changed.
Your family changed.
Your career changed.
Your plans changed.
Your finances changed.
Your relationships changed.
Your confidence changed.
Maybe something happened that divided your life into before and after.
And maybe you’ve been staring backward, wondering when you’re finally going to feel like yourself again.
What if becoming yourself again doesn’t mean becoming exactly who you were?
What if there is still life here?
Love here.
Purpose here.
Laughter here.
Beauty here.
Growth here.
God here.
YOU here.
Jesus/The Father has been teaching me that I do not have to despise today’s Cassandra while waiting for tomorrow’s Cassandra.
I can love her now.
Celebrate her now.
Take her picture now.
Let her laugh now.
Let her dream now.
Let her live now.
Because she did not disappear when her circumstances changed.
And neither did you.
“I shall not die, but live, and declare the works of the LORD.” — Psalm 118:17 KJV
That scripture hits differently these days…
I SHALL LIVE.
Not merely exist.
Not merely endure.
Not merely spend every day cataloging what changed.
LIVE.
🌳 Grow.
🍇 Taste what is still good.
💃 Dance however dancing looks today.
🔑 Open the doors that are in front of you instead of spending your whole life staring at the ones that closed.
❤️🔥 Love fiercely.
👑 Remember your worth.
And when fear, grief, shame, comparison, disability, disappointment, or somebody else’s expectations try to reduce your entire existence to what you cannot do—
look them square in the face and say:
I. AM. HERE.
I am not an inconvenience.
I am not yesterday’s version of myself gone wrong.
I am not a list of limitations.
I am not waiting for permission to call this life beautiful.
I survived enough to get HERE.
And HERE deserves my presence.
HERE deserves my gratitude.
HERE deserves my laughter.
HERE deserves my dreams.
HERE deserves my love.
And HERE deserves yours too.
So today’s challenge is ridiculously simple:
Show up for the life you actually have.
Not someday.
Not when everything gets fixed.
Not when you finally feel ready.
Today.
Take the picture.
Eat the grape. 🍇
Laugh loudly.
Use the help.
Try again.
Rest when you need to.
Celebrate the inch instead of mourning the mile.
And beloved—
BE HERE.
Because you are still becoming.
And your story is still moving.
🎬
Asking for A Friend,
Cassandra

Note: Many will look at this 📸 and feel sorry for me. Don’t pity me. I love me some me. It took time to get there but…I. AM. HERE!
One step.
One step.
One step.
You are loved. You are NOT alone.
Keep on being…YOU!

Unapologetically yours. ❤️🔥👑
IF I NEED YOU, YOU CAN HURT ME 💔❤️🔥
AUGUST 21, 2026
IF I NEED YOU, YOU CAN HURT ME 💔❤️🔥
When Independence Becomes Armor
Beloveds,
Yesterday we talked about strings attached.
Today I want to go underneath the strings.
Because sometimes:
“I don’t want to owe anybody”
isn’t the deepest truth.
Sometimes underneath it is:
“I don’t want to need anybody.”
And underneath THAT?
Sometimes there is a frightened little sentence we rarely say aloud:
“Because if I need you…you can hurt me.”
😭💔❤️🔥
There it is.
Need creates vulnerability.
Vulnerability creates possibility.
If I let you matter to me, you could disappoint me.
If I trust you, you could betray that trust.
If I depend on you for something important, you could fail to show up.
If I tell you what hurts, you could mishandle it.
If I let you see me weak, you could judge me.
If I let you help me, you could someday use that help against me.
If I love you deeply enough…
I could lose you.
And suddenly independence starts looking less like personality and more like protection.
👀❤️🔥
Some of us became very good at saying:
“I got it.”
We got it when we were exhausted.
We got it when we were overwhelmed.
We got it when we were drowning.
We got it when we desperately wished somebody would notice that we absolutely, positively, most certainly did NOT have it.
😭
But asking felt scarier than struggling.
So:
I got it.
Don’t worry about me.
I’m fine.
I’ll figure it out.
No, really, I’m good.
Meanwhile…
NOT GOOD.
😩😆❤️🔥
But independent!
Lord, apparently we were going to collapse with excellent attendance.
😭😆
And sometimes people praised us for it.
“You’re so strong.”
“You always figure things out.”
“I don’t know how you do it.”
And maybe we smiled.
But somewhere underneath that compliment was another reality:
I learned how to survive without expecting anybody to catch me.
💔
That’s different.
❤️🔥 SOMETIMES “STRONG” IS A SURVIVAL SKILL
Strength is beautiful.
Independence can be healthy.
Competence is good.
Learning to take care of ourselves matters.
This is NOT an argument for helplessness.
But there is a difference between:
“I can do many things for myself.”
and:
“I must never need anyone.”
One is independence.
The other can become isolation.
One says:
“I am capable.”
The other says:
“Depending on people is too dangerous.”
And beloveds, sometimes we don’t even realize which one we’re living.
❤️🔥
We simply notice that asking for help makes us uncomfortable.
Receiving makes us suspicious.
Depending on somebody makes us anxious.
And when somebody gets too close to the places where we’re struggling, we instinctively pull back.
Because maybe somewhere inside we’ve decided:
Nobody can abandon a need they never knew I had.
WHEW.
😭❤️🔥❤️🔥❤️🔥
Read that again.
Nobody can disappoint me if I never expect anything.
Nobody can refuse me if I never ask.
Nobody can fail to show up if I never invite them.
Nobody can mishandle my vulnerability if I never show it.
Nobody can leave me exposed if I never lean.
That strategy works.
Sort of.
It can protect us from certain kinds of hurt.
But it has a terrible side effect:
Nobody gets to fully love us there either.
💔
Because the walls that keep pain out can also keep tenderness from getting in.
And sometimes we stand behind those walls asking:
“Why does nobody really know me?”
while simultaneously making sure nobody gets close enough to find out.
👀
That’s not condemnation.
That’s something to notice with compassion.
Maybe those walls once helped us survive.
Maybe we needed them.
Maybe they were built after real hurt.
We don’t have to hate ourselves for protecting ourselves.
But eventually we may need to ask:
Is this wall still protecting me—or is it preventing me from living?
❤️🔥
💔 NEEDING SOMEONE MEANS THEY MATTER
And that’s scary.
Because once somebody matters, their absence matters too.
Their choices matter.
Their words matter.
Their presence matters.
Their silence can matter.
Their leaving can hurt.
And some of us quietly decided:
Never again.
Never again will I give somebody that much access.
Never again will I need somebody that badly.
Never again will I let somebody’s presence become important enough that their absence could devastate me.
So we become self-contained.
Safe.
Controlled.
And sometimes…
lonely.
😭
Not because nobody loves us.
But because we haven’t allowed ourselves to receive enough love to experience being held by it.
❤️🔥 BUT RECEIVING DOESN’T REQUIRE GIVING SOMEBODY YOUR WHOLE LIFE
This matters.
Learning to receive does NOT mean handing everybody unrestricted access to you.
Trust should grow.
Character matters.
Patterns matter.
Boundaries matter.
Discernment matters.
You do not owe vulnerability to everybody who asks for it.
❤️🔥
Healthy vulnerability isn’t:
“Everybody gets all of me.”
Healthy vulnerability says:
“I can gradually allow trustworthy people to know the real me.”
That’s different.
Maybe today you let somebody help with something small.
Maybe tomorrow you tell somebody:
“Actually, today has been difficult.”
Maybe next week you ask:
“Could you come with me?”
Maybe eventually you become able to say:
“I’m scared.”
Four letters.
One terrifying little word.
HELP.
And perhaps the bravest thing you do that day isn’t accomplishing something alone.
Perhaps it’s letting somebody answer.
😭❤️🔥
❤️🔥 WHAT IF THEY DON’T COME?
There’s the question.
Because sometimes we ask…
and people don’t come.
Sometimes people disappoint us.
Sometimes somebody promises something and doesn’t follow through.
Sometimes relationships end.
Sometimes people we desperately wanted to stay cannot—or choose not to.
Receiving love does not guarantee we will never hurt again.
That’s the risk.
❤️🔥
But healing doesn’t mean creating a life where nobody can ever hurt us.
That would require creating a life where nobody can ever truly reach us.
Healing may instead mean learning:
If somebody disappoints me, I can grieve it without deciding everybody will.
If somebody leaves, I can mourn without deciding nobody stays.
If one relationship was unsafe, I can learn discernment without declaring all love unsafe.
And perhaps most importantly:
I can survive disappointment without making isolation my permanent home.
😭❤️🔥
🙏🏾 AND THEN THERE IS GOD.
Some of us bring these same fears into faith.
People disappointed us.
So somewhere inside we wonder:
Will You too?
People left.
Will You?
People promised.
Can I trust Your promises?
People saw our weakness and judged us.
What happens when You see all of me?
Scripture gives us this:
“Casting all your care upon him; for he careth for you.”
— 1 Peter 5:7, KJV
Look at that word:
Casting.
That’s movement.
Something leaves my hands.
I have to release enough control to let Someone else carry what I’ve been clutching.
And why?
“For he careth for you.”
😭❤️🔥
Not because you performed perfectly.
Not because you never needed anything.
Not because you remained impressively independent.
Because He cares.
And Scripture says:
“God is our refuge and strength, a very present help in trouble.”
— Psalm 46:1, KJV
A present help.
Not a distant observer applauding how independently we struggle.
HELP.
❤️🔥❤️🔥❤️🔥
Maybe we’ve spent years asking God to make us strong enough not to need anybody.
And perhaps sometimes His answer looks like:
“I sent somebody.”
👀😭
Maybe the phone call was part of the answer.
Maybe the ride was part of the answer.
Maybe the meal was part of the answer.
Maybe the person sitting quietly beside you was part of the answer.
Maybe the person who said:
“I’ll go with you”
was part of the answer.
And because we expected strength to feel like needing less, we almost missed that sometimes strength looks like receiving what arrived.
❤️🔥 YOU CAN BE STRONG AND STILL LEAN
A tree can be strong and still need soil.
A body can be strong and still need food.
A heart can be strong and still need connection.
A human being can be strong and still say:
“Please stay with me awhile.”
😭
Maybe maturity isn’t:
“I don’t need anybody.”
Maybe maturity sounds more like:
“I know what I can carry. I know what I cannot. I know who has earned my trust. I know when to ask. I know how to receive. And I know that needing love does not make me weak.”
THAT is strength.
❤️🔥
❤️🔥 THE CASSANDRA CHALLENGE
Ask yourself today:
“Where have I confused independence with protection?”
Then ask:
“What am I afraid would happen if I let somebody help me here?”
Don’t rush the answer.
Don’t shame the answer.
Just tell yourself the truth.
Sometimes healing begins when we finally name what the armor was protecting.
❤️ DAILY LOVE CHALLENGE
Choose one trustworthy person.
Not everybody.
One.
Practice one small act of vulnerability.
Maybe:
“Could you help me with this?”
“Can you call me later?”
“Today is harder than I’m letting on.”
“Would you pray for me?”
“Could you sit with me awhile?”
Then allow them the dignity of choosing their response.
You are not demanding love.
You are giving love somewhere to land.
❤️🔥
🙌 DAILY VICTORY
Today I will remember:
Asking is not weakness.
Receiving is not surrender.
Trust does not require blindness.
And needing another human being does not erase my strength.
🙏🏾 MORNING PRAYER
Father,
Some of us became independent because independence felt safer than disappointment.
You know why.
You know every time someone didn’t come.
Every promise that broke.
Every need we learned to hide.
Every moment we decided:
I’ll just do it myself.
Thank You for the strength that helped us survive.
But Father, if our survival strategies have become walls, show us gently.
Teach us discernment without isolation.
Boundaries without bitterness.
Strength without armor.
Vulnerability without foolishness.
Community without losing ourselves.
And dependence upon You without shame.
Help us recognize trustworthy hands.
Help us become trustworthy hands for others.
And when love comes toward us…
give us courage not to run.
Amen.
❤️🔥
Beloveds,
Maybe you don’t actually fear needing people.
Maybe you fear what needing them gives them the power to do.
If that’s you…
I understand.
But perhaps healing isn’t learning how to never need again.
Perhaps healing is learning:
who is safe to need,
how much to entrust,
when to ask,
how to keep healthy boundaries,
and—
perhaps hardest of all—
how to remain open to love even though love can never come with a guarantee that we will never hurt.
😭❤️🔥
Because yes…
if I love you, you might hurt me.
If I need you, you might disappoint me.
If I trust you, I take a risk.
But if I close every door…
I also risk missing the people standing outside saying:
“You don’t have to do this alone.”
Maybe today…
we crack the door.
Just a little.
❤️🔥
Tomorrow we’re going somewhere else entirely:
Who are you when you cannot earn your place by being useful?
Because some of us aren’t merely afraid of receiving.
We’re afraid that if we stop performing…
people might stop loving us.
👀😭❤️🔥
We’re going there.
Unapologetically His.
Unapologetically yours.

Cassandra

BELOVEDS, LEARN TO RECEIVE THE LOVE ❤️🔥💔

AUGUST 17, 2026
BELOVEDS, LEARN TO RECEIVE THE LOVE ❤️🔥💔
Beloveds,
I HAD to make a follow up piece!❤️🔥
Some of us know how to love everybody except ourselves when we are the ones who need love.
We will show up.
Give.
Help.
Call.
Pray.
Encourage.
Drop what we’re doing.
Sit beside somebody.
Carry what they cannot carry.
And tell them:
“Don’t you dare apologize. I love you.”
🙌❤️
But let somebody do the same thing for US?
😱
Suddenly we’re standing there with a calculator.
How much did this cost you?
How much time did you lose?
What do I owe you?
Did I inconvenience you?
Are you secretly irritated?
When will you bring this up again?
What are the strings?
Beloveds…
some of us don’t receive love.
We audit it.
😭❤️🔥
We examine every act of kindness looking for an invoice.
And sometimes there IS a reason.
Some of us have experienced people who gave and later reminded us:
“After everything I’ve done for you…”
Some of us learned that help came with expectations.
Some learned that affection could be withdrawn.
Some learned that gifts created obligations.
Some learned that saying yes to someone’s help meant losing the right to say no later.
So now genuine love arrives…
and our hearts don’t know what to do with it.
💔
We start feeling guilty simply because somebody gave us something.
But beloveds, listen carefully:
Someone giving to you does not automatically mean you did something wrong.
Guilt is appropriate when we have harmed someone, manipulated someone, ignored their boundaries, lied, exploited kindness, or behaved wrongly.
But needing someone?
Receiving appropriate help?
Allowing somebody who loves you to choose to show up?
That is not automatically wrongdoing.
Sometimes what we’re calling guilt is actually vulnerability.
Sometimes it’s grief.
Sometimes it’s embarrassment.
Sometimes it’s fear of rejection.
Sometimes it’s fear that somebody will keep score.
And sometimes…
we simply haven’t learned how to be on the receiving side of love.
❤️🔥❤️🔥❤️🔥
So here’s something we can practice together:
PAUSE. CHECK. RECEIVE. THANK. RELEASE.
PAUSE.
Before automatically saying, “No, no, no, I’m fine,” stop.
CHECK.
Is this safe?
Is this freely offered?
Does this person have the freedom to say no?
Are there actual conditions attached—or am I expecting strings because I’ve encountered strings before?
RECEIVE.
If it is safe and freely given, let somebody love you.
Yes.
YOU.
😱❤️
THANK.
Not:
“I’m so sorry you had to do this.”
Not:
“I’ll make this up to you.”
Not:
“I owe you big time.”
Try:
“Thank you. This means a lot to me.”
And then comes the part some of us absolutely HATE. 😭😆
RELEASE.
Put down the imaginary calculator.
You do not have to immediately make everything even.
Healthy relationships are not spreadsheets.
Love circulates.
Today someone carries you.
Another day you may carry them.
Or somebody else.
What you eventually give may look nothing like what you received.
That’s okay.
Love isn’t reimbursement.
❤️🔥
And please remember this:
GRATITUDE IS NOT INDEBTEDNESS.
You can appreciate someone’s generosity without surrendering your boundaries.
Someone helping you does not automatically purchase your future yes.
Your time.
Your agreement.
Your silence.
Your decisions.
Your emotional access.
Your forgiveness.
Your availability.
“Thank you” is not a contract.
And healthy love can survive hearing:
“No.”
❤️🔥
Now for those of us who follow Jesus, this gets even deeper.
Matthew 10:8 says:
“Freely ye have received, freely give.”
Look at the order.
RECEIVE.
Then give.
And 1 John 4:19 says:
“We love him, because he first loved us.”
Again:
FIRST LOVED.
Before we performed.
Before we proved ourselves.
Before we gave something back.
Before we made ourselves useful.
We received.
🙏❤️🔥
Maybe some of us have mastered giving because giving feels powerful.
Receiving?
Receiving requires vulnerability.
Receiving requires opening our hands.
Receiving requires believing someone’s yes without inventing a secret no for them.
Receiving requires saying:
“Maybe I don’t have to earn every ounce of tenderness that reaches me.”
😭❤️🔥
So here’s today’s Love Challenge:
When somebody safely and genuinely offers you love, kindness, encouragement, time, help, or care…
don’t immediately reach for your emotional wallet.
Try saying:
“Thank you. I receive that.”
Then STOP.
😱😆
No apology.
No repayment plan.
No fourteen-page Terms & Conditions.
No emotional promissory note.
Just:
Thank you.
And when guilt whispers:
“They gave. You owe.”
Answer:
“They gave. I am grateful.”
When guilt says:
“You’re a burden.”
Answer:
“Needing love does not make me shameful.”
When fear says:
“There must be strings.”
Answer:
“I will look for evidence instead of inventing a debt.”
And when your heart says:
“I don’t know how to receive love yet…”
Tell it gently:
“Then we will learn.”
Because maybe healing isn’t only learning how to stand again after life knocks us down.
Maybe healing is learning how to let somebody sit beside us before we stand.
😭🙌❤️🔥
Beloveds, some of us have spent our entire lives learning how to pour.
Perhaps it’s time we learned that the cup is allowed to be filled too.
Receive the love.
No invoice.
No shame.
No apology for needing it.
And where genuine love is concerned…
no strings required.
Unapologetically His/Unapologetically yours,
Asking for A Friend,
Cassandra

MESSAGE — YOU DIDN’T MISS YOUR MORNING ☀️❤️🔥

AUGUST 17, 2026
MESSAGE — YOU DIDN’T MISS YOUR MORNING ☀️❤️🔥
Beloveds,
Good morning.
Or good whenever-you-finally-got-here. 😆❤️
Some of us are already up ready for the day.
Some of us woke up already tired.
Somebody had appointments.
Somebody had phone calls.
Somebody is waiting for an answer.
Somebody is taking care of children, parents, partners—or themselves.
Somebody’s plans went sideways before breakfast.
And somebody looked at the clock and thought:
Well. There goes my morning.
Nope.
Come here. ❤️
You did not miss your life because your morning didn’t go according to plan.
You are here now.
Begin here.
☀️ MORNING ASPIRATION
Today, I will stop requiring myself to have a perfect beginning.
I will begin where I am.
If I am tired, I will begin tired.
If I am hopeful, I will begin hopeful.
If I am hurting, I will begin hurting.
If I’m behind schedule, I will begin from here.
If yesterday is still sitting heavily on my heart, I will carry it gently instead of pretending it disappeared overnight.
I do not have to become somebody else before I participate in my own life.
Today already belongs to me.
And I intend to live some of it. ❤️🔥
📖 TODAY’S WORD
“This is the day which the LORD hath made; we will rejoice and be glad in it.” — Psalm 118:24, KJV
Notice what it doesn’t say.
This is the day the Lord hath made provided everything goes according to Cassandra’s color-coded itinerary.
😆
Nope.
This day.
The interrupted one.
The doctor’s-office one.
The therapy one.
The work one.
The caregiving one.
The grieving one.
The starting-over one.
The ordinary one.
The Lord, what in the world are we doing? one.
This one.
🙏
🧠 YOUR VOICE, YOUR STORY
Take one slow breath.
Then say aloud:
“I am here.”
Again:
“I am here.”
And one more:
“I don’t have to rush through today to prove that I’m living it.”
Your voice doesn’t have to sound like anybody else’s.
Your story doesn’t have to move at anybody else’s speed.
Use what you have today.
❤️ DAILY LOVE CHALLENGE
Today, when somebody does something kind for you, practice receiving it.
Instead of immediately apologizing, minimizing, or trying to repay them, try two words:
Thank you.
Let kindness land.
And if you’re the person helping somebody today, don’t make them feel ashamed for needing you.
Let your help communicate:
“You are safe to need something around me.”
That’s love too.
❤️🔥 TODAY’S VICTORY CHALLENGE
Stop once today and notice something you DID.
Not what remains unfinished.
Not what you used to be able to do.
Not what everybody else accomplished.
What did YOU do today?
Maybe you got out of bed.
Made the call.
Went to the appointment.
Took the medicine.
Asked the question.
Went to work.
Fed yourself.
Apologized.
Set a boundary.
Tried again.
Rested when you needed rest.
Survived a difficult hour.
Whatever it is:
Count it.
Small victories are still victories.
🙏 FOR THOSE WHO PRAY
Father,
Thank You for another morning—even when we arrived late to it.
Some of us are strong today.
Some are tired.
Some are frightened.
Some are grieving.
Some are waiting for answers.
Some are beginning again.
Meet every one of us where we actually are.
Teach us not to abandon ourselves when life becomes difficult.
Teach us to receive love without shame.
Teach us to offer love without making others earn it.
Give us courage for today’s work—not next month’s work, not next year’s work.
Today’s.
Give us our daily bread.
Our daily strength.
Our daily mercy.
And when we cannot see very far ahead, remind us that we don’t have to see the entire road to take the next faithful step.
In Jesus’ name,
Amen. 🙏❤️🔥
🌎 AND IF PRAYER ISN’T YOUR THING
You still belong here.
Take what serves you:
You don’t need to solve your entire life today.
You don’t have to pretend you’re okay.
You don’t have to perform positivity.
You don’t have to compete with yesterday’s version of yourself.
Just ask:
What do I need today?
Then give yourself permission to answer honestly.
☀️ TODAY’S REMINDER
Beloveds, maybe the goal isn’t:
“Today I will have everything together.”
Maybe it’s simply:
“Today I will stay with myself.”
Through the interruption.
Through the appointment.
Through the work.
Through the disappointment.
Through the laughter.
Through the mess.
Through the progress.
Through the ordinary.
And tonight, instead of asking only,
“How much did I accomplish?”
ask:
“Did I show up for the person living my life?”
Because you are not merely waiting for your life to improve.
You are living it now.
Begin. Again.
❤️🔥
TODAY’S CASSANDRA CHALLENGE — EXTRA CREDIT 😎
Find one person today and make their load a little lighter.
A call.
A text.
A prayer.
A compliment.
Patience.
Help.
Listening.
Or simply:
“I’m glad you’re here.”
Because somebody around you may desperately need evidence that they matter.
Be some.
Unapologetically His / Unapologetically yours,
Asking for A Friend,
Cassandra
#YourLifeMattersToMe
Note: Life has been kicking my tail. I have much in the ways of encouragement and fun for you. Be patient with yourself. Be kind to yourself. I love you, beloveds, and so does He.
One step. One step. One step. You are loved. You are NOT alone. Keep on being…YOU! ❤️🔥🌎🙏
Beloveds, you are…beloved. To, me. To, Him. Be encouraged…

AUGUST 16, 2026
MY VOICE IS STILL MINE 🎤🧠❤️🔥
A stroke affected the way I speak.
It did not erase what I have to say.
My voice may pause now. It may repeat itself. A word may hide when I need it most. Sometimes my mouth, brain, and thoughts hold an entire meeting without inviting one another. 😩😆
But my voice is still mine.
It still carries my intelligence.
It still carries my humor.
It still carries my needs, boundaries, questions, faith, love, and truth.
I am learning that finding my voice does not mean making it sound exactly as it did before. It means trusting the voice I have now—and giving it the time, patience, and room it deserves.
Maybe your struggle is not a stroke.
Perhaps fear stole your confidence.
Maybe grief left you without words.
Perhaps someone repeatedly talked over you, dismissed you, criticized you, or convinced you that silence was safer.
Maybe you became so busy caring for everybody else that you stopped asking yourself what you needed.
Some of us are recovering our speech.
Some are recovering our confidence.
Some are recovering the courage to say:
“I need help.”
“That hurt me.”
“I disagree.”
“I don’t understand.”
“Please give me a moment.”
“No.”
“Yes.”
“I love you.”
“I am still here.”
Whatever quieted you, beloved, your voice still matters.
You do not have to speak quickly to speak powerfully.
You do not need perfect words to tell the truth.
You do not have to become loud to become clear.
And you do not have to apologize for needing time.
The Bible says:
“Let the redeemed of the Lord say so, whom he hath redeemed from the hand of the enemy.”
— Psalm 107:2, KJV
My faith teaches me that God can use a trembling, interrupted, recovering voice. He does not require polished speech before He listens.
If you do not share my faith, I still want this truth for you: May you find a safe place to practice saying what you feel, what you need, what you believe, and who you are.
We are going to help one another find our voices—not so we can overpower people, but so we can communicate, advocate, encourage, protect, connect, and love.
❤️🔥 VOICE-CONFIDENCE CHALLENGE
Say this aloud three times:
“My voice deserves time, patience, and room.”
Then use your voice for one purposeful thing today:
Ask for what you need.
State a boundary.
Read something encouraging aloud.
Tell someone you appreciate them.
Or simply say, “Please let me finish.”
💞 DAILY LOVE CHALLENGE
For yourself:
Do not insult yourself when a word, thought, or feeling is difficult to express. Pause. Breathe. Try again. Write it down if speaking is too difficult.
For someone else:
Give one person your full attention. Do not rush, interrupt, correct, or finish their sentence. Help them feel that their voice matters too.
🏆 VICTORY MOMENT
Complete this sentence:
“Today I used my voice to ______________________________.”
Do not minimize your answer.
Speaking counts.
Trying counts.
Asking counts.
Pausing counts.
Beginning again counts.
Your voice may sound different after everything you have survived.
Different does not mean empty.
Different does not mean powerless.
Different does not mean finished.
My voice is still mine.
And, beloved, yours is still yours.
Tomorrow, we will explore what happens when fear tells us to hurry, hide, or remain silent—and practice replacing pressure with one clear, confident thought at a time. 🎤🧠❤️🔥
Follow along. Bring your voice exactly as it is. We are rebuilding together.
Asking for A Friend,
Cassandra

OKAY, TOMORROW THEN. NAH, FAM! 🤕😢👋🏽🏃🏽♀️❤️🔥😎📫
Beloveds,
I’m really struggling tonight.
The pain won’t let me be. 🤕😢
And sometimes that’s the whole testimony.
Not:
“I conquered everything today!”
Not:
“Look how strong I am!”
Not even:
“I’m feeling better!”
Sometimes the truth is simply:
This hurts.
And tonight?
It hurts.
So I decided I’m shutting it DOWN for the rest of the weekend.
👋🏽📱
No saving the world.
No proving anything.
No pretending my body isn’t asking me to stop.
No guilt because I need rest.
I have spent enough time talking tonight about fear, anger, hate, hurt, love, and this whole aching world. 🌎💔❤️🔥
Cassandra is officially OFF DUTY.
😎👋🏽
Well…
Until tomorrow.
Because my brain immediately said:
“Okay, tomorrow then.”
😳
Tomorrow?!
NAH, FAM!
😂😂😂
Did I not JUST say THE REST OF THE WEEKEND?!
Apparently I need to have a staff meeting with myself.
🧠: But we could write just one little—
ME: NO.
🧠: Maybe brainstorm—
ME: NOPE.
🧠: What about—
ME:
SHUT IT. 😎👋🏽😂
See?
I’ve been telling fear, anger, and hate to shut it all evening.
Apparently my overachieving brain needed a turn too.
❤️🔥😂
But there’s something underneath the joke that I really need to learn.
Maybe you do too.
REST ISN’T SOMETHING WE HAVE TO EARN. 🤕❤️🔥
Why do we do that?
Why do we wait until we’re completely depleted before giving ourselves permission to stop?
Why does resting sometimes make us feel guilty?
Why do we think every unfinished thing is an emergency?
Beloveds—
some things can wait.
That message can wait.
That project can wait.
That argument can wait.
That decision can wait.
Sometimes even the thing you deeply love doing can wait.
Because loving something doesn’t mean you have to give it every piece of yourself.
Sometimes love says:
Put it down.
MY PAIN DOESN’T NEED A MOTIVATIONAL SPEECH TONIGHT. 😢
This matters.
I don’t need to turn every difficult moment into a lesson before I’m allowed to experience it.
Sometimes pain is simply painful.
🤕
I don’t have to smile through it.
I don’t have to make everybody comfortable with it.
I don’t have to immediately find the silver lining.
I can say:
This hurts like hell tonight.
And then care for myself.
That’s not surrender.
That’s honesty.
And maybe tonight my victory isn’t pushing through.
Maybe my victory is finally knowing when NOT to.
❤️🔥
FOR ME, EVEN JESUS RESTED. 🙏
Scripture says:
“And he said unto them, Come ye yourselves apart into a desert place, and rest a while…” — Mark 6:31 KJV
Rest a while.
Not:
Rest after everything is finished.
Because everything is NEVER finished. 😩😂
There’s always another something.
Another person.
Another idea.
Another responsibility.
Another post.
Another problem.
Another thought.
Another—
CASSANDRA.
PUT. THE. PHONE. DOWN.
📱👀😂
Yes, Lord.
Message received.
🌎 AND FOR MY BELOVEDS WHO DON’T SHARE MY FAITH
You don’t need my Scripture to receive this permission:
You are allowed to stop.
You don’t have to be productive every waking moment.
You don’t have to explain why you’re exhausted.
You don’t have to turn rest into another assignment you have to perform perfectly.
Rest.
Watch something ridiculous.
Listen to music.
Laugh.
Cry.
Sleep.
Be quiet.
Do absolutely nothing impressive.
The world will continue spinning. 🌎😎
❤️🔥 THE CASSANDRA CHALLENGE
Actually, NOPE.
😂👋🏽
NO CHALLENGE TONIGHT.
That’s the challenge.
Do less.
I’m serious.
Sometimes we’re so obsessed with becoming better that we forget we’re already human beings—not improvement projects.
So tonight:
No homework.
No proving.
No fixing your entire life.
No saving everybody.
Just take care of the human being wearing your name.
🥰
AND HERE’S MY VICTORY TONIGHT 🤕😢❤️🔥
I’m hurting.
I’m tired.
And I’m stopping.
BEFORE I WANT TO.
That counts.
Maybe that’s growth too.
Knowing when to fight.
Knowing when to push.
Knowing when to begin again.
And knowing when to say:
That’s enough for today.
So beloveds—
I love y’all.
I mean it.
This hurting world matters to me.
YOU matter to me. 🌎❤️🔥
But Cassandra is clocking OUT.
👋🏽🏃🏽♀️💨
See y’all tomorrow—
WAIT.
😳
Didn’t we JUST discuss this?!
NAH, FAM!
😂😂😂
See y’all AFTER THE WEEKEND.
If you catch me trying to sneak back in here tomorrow talking about:
“Beloveds, I was thinking…”
TAKE MY PHONE.
📱🏃🏽♀️😂
For now:
Pain, I hear you. 🤕
Body, I hear you.
Heart, I hear you. 💔
God, I trust You. 🙏
World, I love you. 🌎
And Cassandra?
GO REST.
🥰❤️🔥🛌
Everything does not need to be finished tonight.
Everything does not need to be understood tonight.
Everything does not need to be healed tonight.
Sometimes the holiest, healthiest, wisest thing we can say is:
ENOUGH.
I’ll begin again.
Just…
NOT TOMORROW.
😂😎👋🏽🏃🏽♀️❤️🔥📱🌎📫
Unapologetically His.
Unapologetically yours.
Asking for A Friend,
Cassandra
#YourLifeMattersToMe
One step. One step. One step.
And occasionally, beloveds…
SIT YOURSELF DOWN. 😂🛌❤️🔥
You are loved.
You are NOT alone.
Keep on being…YOU!

Why Stroke Survivors Feel Alone — Even When They’re Not 💔😢🤐🧠🙏
August 15, 2026
Beloveds,
Tonight, this one is for me.
Maybe tomorrow it will be for somebody else.
But tonight?
I need these words. 😪💔
Stroke can be incredibly lonely.
And I don’t necessarily mean lonely because nobody called.
I don’t mean lonely because nobody came.
I don’t mean lonely because nobody loves you.
Sometimes you can be surrounded by people who genuinely love you and still feel an ache so deep inside that you wonder:
Does anybody understand what it feels like to be me now? 😢
That is a different kind of lonely.
Because how do you explain what it feels like when your own brain suddenly feels unfamiliar? 🧠
How do you explain that sometimes you know exactly what you mean, but getting it from your mind through your mouth is another journey entirely? 🤐
How do you explain how exhausting ordinary things can become?
How do you explain missing yourself?
Not hating yourself.
Not giving up on yourself.
Missing yourself. 💔
There is a difference.
I can love the woman I am becoming and still grieve the woman I remember.
I can celebrate progress and still cry over what remains difficult.
I can be grateful for help and still desperately miss independence.
I can laugh until my stomach hurts one minute and cry until there aren’t enough tissues in Illinois the next. 😭😆
Both can be true.
And tonight, I need permission to let both be true.
💔 Sometimes loneliness is really grief.
There was a life before my stroke.
There was a body I knew.
A brain I trusted without thinking about it.
There were things I did automatically.
There were conversations that didn’t require this much work.
There were movements I didn’t have to celebrate because I never imagined losing them.
And then life divided itself into two words:
Before.
And…
After.
People around us experience changes too.
But the survivor lives inside those changes every single minute.
That can feel terribly lonely.
🤐 Sometimes loneliness is being misunderstood.
One of the hardest things is knowing there is still a whole person inside you while struggling to communicate that person the way you once did.
So please hear me:
Difficulty communicating is not the absence of thought.
Needing extra time does not mean there is nothing worth waiting for.
Repeating something does not make the thought less valuable.
Struggling to get the words out does not make the person struggling less intelligent.
And needing patience does not make somebody a burden.
Sometimes what a stroke survivor needs most isn’t somebody to finish the sentence.
Sometimes we need someone willing to stay for the sentence. 💞
Stay while I find the word.
Stay while I try again.
Stay when frustration shows up.
Stay when tears interrupt the conversation.
Stay long enough to hear me, not merely my stroke.
🧠 Sometimes loneliness is invisible work.
You may see me getting dressed.
I may see a victory.
You may see me move my arm.
I may know how much concentration went into that movement.
You may see me complete an ordinary task.
I may know the determination, frustration, adaptation and sheer stubbornness it took to finish it. 😎
That’s another lonely place:
When nobody can see how hard you’re working because the battle is happening inside your body and brain.
So tonight I am reminding myself:
Cassandra, you know how hard you’re working.
You were there.
You know what those victories cost.
They count even when nobody else sees them.
💞
😢 And sometimes I simply miss ME.
There.
I said it.
I miss me.
And saying that doesn’t mean I don’t appreciate my life.
It doesn’t mean I don’t believe healing is possible.
It doesn’t mean I have surrendered.
It means something enormous happened to me, and sometimes my heart needs time to catch up with everything my body and brain have been asked to endure.
So tonight I will not bully myself out of grief.
I will sit beside her.
I will love her.
I will tell her:
Cry if you need to, girl.
I ain’t leaving you either. 😭❤️🔥
Because perhaps part of recovery is learning how to become a friend to myself again.
Not only the woman I used to be.
This woman.
The one right here.
The one learning.
The one adapting.
The one grieving.
The one laughing.
The one getting frustrated.
The one celebrating things she once took for granted.
The one who occasionally wants to throw something but would then have to figure out who is going to pick it up. 😭😆👋
Her.
I choose her.
Tonight, I choose ME. 💞
🙏 And then there is My Bestie.
My faith doesn’t prevent me from hurting.
It gives me somewhere to take the hurt.
Scripture says:
“The LORD is nigh unto them that are of a broken heart…” — Psalm 34:18 KJV
Nigh.
Close.
Not watching from some distant place waiting for me to become inspirational again.
Close while I cry.
Close when I don’t understand.
Close when I’m tired.
Close when I’m angry.
Close when I miss who I used to be.
Close when I wonder who I am becoming.
Close when everybody else goes home and the room gets quiet.
Close when loneliness whispers:
Nobody understands.
And perhaps God answers:
I do. 🙏💞
Tonight, Jesus, I don’t need to perform strength for You.
I don’t need a polished testimony.
I don’t need to make tonight profound.
I just need somewhere safe to put my tired heart.
So here it is.
Please hold it.
Hold the grief.
Hold the confusion.
Hold the loneliness.
Hold the woman I was.
Hold the woman I am.
And hold the woman I am becoming.
Remind me that I am more than what happened to my brain.
More than what my body struggles to do.
More than the words that sometimes won’t cooperate.
More than somebody else’s misunderstanding of me.
I am still Cassandra.
Changed?
Yes.
Learning?
Absolutely.
Grieving?
Sometimes terribly.
But gone?
HELL TO THE NAH. 😎❤️🔥
I’m still here.
And tonight, that is enough.
💞 To my fellow survivors…
If you’re lying somewhere tonight wondering why you feel lonely even though people love you, please don’t shame yourself for that feeling.
Sometimes loneliness isn’t the absence of love.
Sometimes it is the ache of wanting to be understood.
You deserve patience.
You deserve dignity.
You deserve friendship.
You deserve laughter.
You deserve to participate in conversations about your own life.
You deserve time to communicate.
And you deserve space to grieve without somebody immediately trying to turn your pain into a motivational quote.
Tonight we don’t have to conquer everything.
Tonight we can simply say:
This is hard.
I am tired.
I miss parts of myself.
I am still here.
And I am learning how to love the person who is here now. 💞🧠
❤️🔥 Tonight’s Cassandra Challenge
Before you go to sleep, put your hand over your heart if you can.
And tell yourself:
I will not abandon myself because my life changed.
I will learn me again.
I will speak kindly to me again.
I will celebrate me again.
I will become my own friend again.
And tomorrow?
We begin.
Again.
But tonight…
we rest. 😪🛌💞
Unapologetically His.
Unapologetically yours.
Asking for A Friend,
Cassandra

I HURT. 💔😢🤕 — AND THAT IS THE WHOLE SENTENCE TODAY.
August 15, 2026
Beloveds,
I hurt.
That’s it.
That’s the post.
Well…almost. 😢💔
Some days I can find the lesson quickly. I can dig around in the mess 💩, pull out some wisdom, throw in a few Cassandra emojis 😵💫🤣🥰, find something to be grateful for, and say:
NEXT! 😎💃🏽
But today?
I hurt. 🤕
My heart hurts. 💔
My body hurts.
My feelings hurt.
Some of what I thought my life would look like hurts.
And I don’t want to rush past that just so I can sound strong.
Because maybe somebody reading this needs permission to stop performing strength too.
😭 You can cry.
💔 You can grieve.
😠 You can be angry about what happened.
😵💫 You can admit that you don’t understand any of it.
🙏🏽 You can believe God AND still tell Him, “Lord, this hurts.”
Those things can exist in the same heart.
Faith does not require me to pretend pain doesn’t hurt.
Hope does not require me to smile every minute.
Strength does not mean I never collapse into tears.
Sometimes strength sounds like:
“God, I don’t know what to do with this pain, so I’m giving it to You while I cry.” 😭🙏🏽❤️
And for those who don’t share my faith, maybe your words are simply:
“This hurts. I don’t have to solve my whole life tonight. I only have to care for myself through this moment.” ❤️🫂
💡 THE HOW OF LOVE
We’ve been talking about learning HOW to love, and here’s one we sometimes forget:
Love doesn’t always fix. Sometimes love sits.
Sit with somebody without demanding that they cheer up.
Listen without immediately giving advice.
Let somebody say, “I hurt,” without answering, “But look on the bright side.”
And please—learn to give that same kindness to yourself. 💞
You don’t have to turn every tear into a testimony before the tear has even dried.
Sometimes you just need to cry the doggone tear. 😭😅
📖 FOR MY FELLOW BELIEVERS
Psalm 34:18 KJV
“The LORD is nigh unto them that are of a broken heart; and saveth such as be of a contrite spirit.”
That scripture doesn’t tell me God only comes near after I get myself together.
It tells me He’s near here.
In the heartbreak.
In the confusion.
In the ugly cry. 😭
In the “Jesus, I cannot do this today.”
Here too. ❤️🙏🏽
❤️ TODAY’S LOVE CHALLENGE
Find somebody who is hurting.
Maybe it’s someone else.
Maybe it’s you.
Don’t lecture them.
Don’t rush them.
Don’t tell them how they should feel.
Give them one beautiful gift:
Permission to be exactly where they are while reminding them they don’t have to stay there forever. 🫂💞
🏆 AND YES—THERE IS STILL A VICTORY
I hurt.
And I’m still here.
😭 Still crying.
🙏🏽 Still praying.
❤️ Still loving.
💔 Still carrying a heart that feels broken.
🌱 Still becoming whoever I’m going to be on the other side of all this.
I don’t know exactly who she is yet.
God apparently isn’t telling. 🤐👀😅
But tomorrow doesn’t require me to know.
Tonight, I can hurt.
Tomorrow, I’ll take another step.
One step. One step. One step. 👣❤️
And if tomorrow’s step is tiny?
Tiny still counts. 💯
So if you’re hurting too, come sit beside me for a minute.
No pretending.
No judgment.
No inspirational gymnastics. 🤸🏽♀️😵💫🤣
Just people reminding people:
Your pain matters.
Your tears matter.
Your story isn’t finished.
And neither is mine. ❤️
We will learn together how to love through the hurting—not by denying pain, but by refusing to let pain have the final word.

💔🌊 JESUS, THERE ARE NOT ENOUGH TEARS IN THE OCEAN
What Do We Do With Our Hearts Now?
Beloveds,
Jesus… 😭💔
There are not enough tears in the ocean for some kinds of heartbreak.
There aren’t enough words.
There aren’t enough prayers that come out neatly.
There aren’t enough “I’m okay”s to make us okay.
Sometimes all we have is:
Ah, God… what do we do with our hearts now? 😭💔🙏🏽
And maybe today somebody reading this is asking another question:
WHO CARES?
Who cares that I am hurting?
Who cares that something I loved has changed?
Who cares that I’m trying to hold myself together while something inside me feels absolutely shattered?
Who cares about the tears I don’t let anybody see?
Who cares when I don’t even have the strength to explain why I’m crying?
For me, the answer is:
YOU DO, JESUS. ❤️
You care.
Not only when I am praising. 💃🏽🙌🏽
Not only when I’m strong. 💪🏽
Not only when I’m encouraging everybody else.
Not only when Cassandra has something funny to say. 😅😂
You care about this Cassandra too.
The one with tears running down her face. 😭
The one whose heart hurts. 💔
The one who doesn’t have a clever lesson wrapped up with a pretty bow today.
The one who can only whisper:
Jesus, please hold what I cannot carry. 🙏🏽😭❤️
And THAT is something I want somebody else to know today.
💔 STOP TRYING TO MAKE GRIEF PRETTY.
Some pain is ugly.
Some grief is confusing.
Sometimes faith sounds like HALLELUJAH! 🙌🏽
And sometimes faith sounds like:
“Jesus…help.”
That’s it.
One word.
Help.
😭🙏🏽
You don’t have to manufacture strength you don’t have.
You don’t have to rush yourself into gratitude because somebody is uncomfortable with your sadness.
You don’t have to turn every tear into a testimony before you’ve even finished crying it.
Sometimes love simply sits beside a broken heart and says:
“I’m staying.” ❤️🫂
And if you’re loving somebody who is hurting today, please don’t make their pain compete with your desire to fix it.
Don’t immediately tell them what lesson they should learn.
Don’t hurry them.
Don’t compare their grief to somebody else’s.
Don’t tell them to “look on the bright side.”
Sometimes the most loving thing you can do is sit there and say:
“I care. I’m here. You don’t have to explain.” 🫂❤️
THAT is love in action. 🎬💞
🙏🏽 FOR THOSE WHO BELIEVE
Jesus Himself wept.
“Jesus wept.” — John 11:35 KJV
Two words.
And I love those two words today.
Because they remind me that tears do not frighten God.
And Scripture says:
“The LORD is nigh unto them that are of a broken heart…” — Psalm 34:18 KJV
So today I’m not asking God to pretend my heart isn’t broken.
I’m asking Him to come near it.
Sit with me here, Jesus. 😭🙏🏽
Hold every piece.
Hold the memories.
Hold the questions.
Hold what I understand.
Hold what I absolutely DO NOT understand. 😭💔
And when I don’t know what to do with my heart…
You do. ❤️
💞 AND IF JESUS ISN’T YOUR ANSWER
You are still welcome here.
Your tears matter too.
Your grief doesn’t need my theology before it deserves my compassion.
If today all you can believe is that another human being should care when somebody hurts, start there.
Sit beside somebody.
Listen.
Call.
Text.
Check in.
Be gentle.
And if you’re the one hurting, give yourself permission to say:
“This hurts.”
No apology.
No shame.
No performance.
Just truth. ❤️🩹
🌊 TODAY’S LOVE CHALLENGE
Find one hurting heart today.
Maybe it’s somebody else’s.
Maybe it’s yours.
Don’t fix it.
LOVE IT.
Give it room.
Give it patience.
Give it tenderness.
Give it permission to cry. 😭🫂💞
🏆 TODAY’S VICTORY
If you cried and kept breathing…
Victory.
If you admitted, “I’m hurting”…
Victory.
If you reached for God…
Victory.
If you reached for another person…
Victory.
If you couldn’t do anything except make it through the last five minutes…
VICTORY. 🏆😭❤️
Because sometimes courage doesn’t roar.
Sometimes courage sits in a puddle of tears and whispers:
“I’m still here.”
And today…
I’m still here. 💔❤️🩹🙏🏽
So are you.
Maybe neither one of us knows exactly what to do with our hearts right now.
But we don’t have to figure out the rest of our lives today.
Today we can cry.
Today we can love.
Today we can let ourselves be loved.
And tomorrow?
We’ll take another step.
One step. One step. One step. 👣❤️
Come back. We’re going to keep talking about the HOW of love—how to love when we’re grieving, how to sit with somebody else’s pain without trying to control it, and how to keep a tender heart when life gives us every reason to build a wall around it. 💞🧱➡️❤️
Because love isn’t only what we feel when everything is beautiful.
Sometimes love is what stays when everything hurts.
And Scripture reminds me:
“And now these three remain: faith, hope and love. But the greatest of these is love.” — 1 Corinthians 13:13 NIV ❤️
