MY VOICE IS STILL MINE 🎤🧠❤️🔥
A stroke affected the way I speak.
It did not erase what I have to say.
My voice may pause now. It may repeat itself. A word may hide when I need it most. Sometimes my mouth, brain, and thoughts hold an entire meeting without inviting one another. 😩😆
But my voice is still mine.
It still carries my intelligence.
It still carries my humor.
It still carries my needs, boundaries, questions, faith, love, and truth.
I am learning that finding my voice does not mean making it sound exactly as it did before. It means trusting the voice I have now—and giving it the time, patience, and room it deserves.
Maybe your struggle is not a stroke.
Perhaps fear stole your confidence.
Maybe grief left you without words.
Perhaps someone repeatedly talked over you, dismissed you, criticized you, or convinced you that silence was safer.
Maybe you became so busy caring for everybody else that you stopped asking yourself what you needed.
Some of us are recovering our speech.
Some are recovering our confidence.
Some are recovering the courage to say:
“I need help.”
“That hurt me.”
“I disagree.”
“I don’t understand.”
“Please give me a moment.”
“No.”
“Yes.”
“I love you.”
“I am still here.”
Whatever quieted you, beloved, your voice still matters.
You do not have to speak quickly to speak powerfully.
You do not need perfect words to tell the truth.
You do not have to become loud to become clear.
And you do not have to apologize for needing time.
The Bible says:
“Let the redeemed of the Lord say so, whom he hath redeemed from the hand of the enemy.”
— Psalm 107:2, KJV
My faith teaches me that God can use a trembling, interrupted, recovering voice. He does not require polished speech before He listens.
If you do not share my faith, I still want this truth for you: May you find a safe place to practice saying what you feel, what you need, what you believe, and who you are.
We are going to help one another find our voices—not so we can overpower people, but so we can communicate, advocate, encourage, protect, connect, and love.
❤️🔥 VOICE-CONFIDENCE CHALLENGE
Say this aloud three times:
“My voice deserves time, patience, and room.”
Then use your voice for one purposeful thing today:
Ask for what you need.
State a boundary.
Read something encouraging aloud.
Tell someone you appreciate them.
Or simply say, “Please let me finish.”
💞 DAILY LOVE CHALLENGE
For yourself:
Do not insult yourself when a word, thought, or feeling is difficult to express. Pause. Breathe. Try again. Write it down if speaking is too difficult.
For someone else:
Give one person your full attention. Do not rush, interrupt, correct, or finish their sentence. Help them feel that their voice matters too.
🏆 VICTORY MOMENT
Complete this sentence:
“Today I used my voice to ______________________________.”
Do not minimize your answer.
Speaking counts.
Trying counts.
Asking counts.
Pausing counts.
Beginning again counts.
Your voice may sound different after everything you have survived.
Different does not mean empty.
Different does not mean powerless.
Different does not mean finished.
My voice is still mine.
And, beloved, yours is still yours.
Tomorrow, we will explore what happens when fear tells us to hurry, hide, or remain silent—and practice replacing pressure with one clear, confident thought at a time. 🎤🧠❤️🔥
Follow along. Bring your voice exactly as it is. We are rebuilding together.
Asking for A Friend,
Cassandra
