I am a joker.

I am a joker.

At least, I have been for the past while.

It started innocently, I promise.

One day, one of my bosses told us THE corniest joke. EVER. It made me laugh. Makes me laugh even now.

HAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA!

Question: Where do Bad Rainbows go?Β

Answer: Prism (Its a light sentence, and gives them time to reflect.)

HAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAH!

How can you NOT laugh at that!?

Prism!

HAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHHAAHAHAHAHHAHAHAHAHAHA.

OMG!!!!

God: hahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahhaahahah!! O Myself!…..hahahahahahahahhahhaha!!!

See?

Toldja it was funny.

One day, beloveds, I was minding my own business and God told me to tell the next person I dealt with that joke.

I started not to. Yet, how the world can one argue with God?? Instead of arguing, I had a small ‘chat’ with Him:

Me: God, I can’t tell folks THAT joke!

God: Why not?

Me: They will think me ridiculous.

God: Tell it anyway.

Me: They may not laugh.

God: Tell it anyway.

Me: They may think me odd.

God: Tell it anyway.

Do you want to know something interesting? The more I argued, er, counseled with God, the more MY insecurities came out. I stopped thinking on bringing some laughter to folk and started looking inward and seeing lack inside.

God: Tell the joke.

Me: I’m afraid they will laugh AT me.

God: Tell the joke.

Me: K.

So, one day, I mustered up the courage…

The next person I interacted with, I told the joke.

I can not tell you how many folks, on the daily, react at first with a gasp, then an uproarious laugh. Which makes me laugh. Which makes them laugh. Which has us both falling all over one another.

Now, I spend my days telling as many folks as I can what happens with bad rainbows…..hahahahahahahahahha.

Do you know what I learned? The more I reached out, past MY fear, and just loved folk. The more I received. In laughter. In love. In joy. In healing.

Laughter used to be such a painful thing for me, growing up. Laughter chased me, as folks made fun of the way I looked, the way that I dressed, the way that I talked.

I’m okay with me now. I love me. There was a time I did not. I enjoy laughter now. I laugh every day. Every laugh is reclaiming the broken parts of a little girl laughed into grownness. A little girl, now grown, no longer holding her head down in shame.

Lift your head, beloveds. If your past laughed at you, that’s okay. Reclaim your joy. Hurt people, hurt people. Folk back then just didn’t know any better. And, those who still chose to be mean were just that. Mean. Doesn’t mean you were loved and valued any less.

Be encouraged. Be a joker with me. Keep moving past your fears. Keep removing lies long told that need to die. You are loved and you are NOT alone. You are worthy. You are worth while.

Make someone smile. Starting with you.

laughing with you,

Cassandra
