Better Late Than Never 🍿
Beloveds,
Our Saturday Matinee is arriving later than I planned.
Today has been a hard day. My stroke symptoms have made some things difficult, and I needed to change course. That is simply the truth of today. I had plans for our time together, and those plans did not unfold on schedule.
But the invitation is still here.
I have been thinking about the difference between a changed route and a lost direction. They are not necessarily the same thing. A schedule tells us when we hoped to arrive. Our True North reminds us what matters as we travel.
For me, sharing a little of life with you matters. So does enjoying a good story, making room for wonder, and choosing how I spend the moments available to me. Those things do not vanish because the clock has moved forward.
And I want to say something about difficult days. Not every interruption comes with a neat explanation. Not every change of plan has to be called a blessing before we can acknowledge it. Some days are difficult. Some days pain wins a round. We can say that without handing pain the entire story.
There is still a Saturday evening ahead of us, and I would like to spend a little of it at the movies with you. 🍿
Today’s selection is We Should Make a Movie (2025), a 57-minute independent comedy-drama-romance directed by Cody Clarke. It follows two people who exchange video messages while imagining a movie they might make together when they see each other again.
I like the simple invitation in that premise: two people, a conversation, and the possibility of creating something together. We can come to a movie with different experiences and take away different thoughts. We do not need to turn an evening together into an assignment. We can simply watch.
Even a late invitation can be offered with care. The time on the clock has changed, but the desire to share something good with you has not. That matters to me.

If you have a little time tonight, pull up a chair. Bring your favorite snack, settle in wherever you are comfortable, and join us. If tonight is not possible, the invitation does not expire because the clock has changed. Come when you can.
I have not seen this film yet, so I am coming to it ready to discover the story, not to tell you in advance what you are supposed to think about it. That is one of the things I enjoy about our Matinee: we can encounter a story without knowing every turn before it begins.
As for the rest of the day, I am not going to pretend it was easy. I am also not going to surrender everything it still holds. Both statements can be true.
Sometimes the route changes. True North remains.
Thank you for joining me for this late Saturday Matinee, beloveds. The movie is ready. The chair is here. And I am glad we still have this time to share.
With love,
Cassandra
you matter to me. 🧡
