GIVE YOURSELF PERMISSION, BELOVEDS. πβ€οΈβπ₯
Beloveds,
Give yourself permission.
I’m learning how.
I’m tired.
I’m recovering.
And apparently, after everything life has taught me about surviving, pushing, helping, producing, showing up, loving people and continuing when I didn’t think I had anything left…
I now have to learn something that sounds ridiculously simple:
How to rest.
Not collapse.
Not finally stop because my body leaves me no other choice.
Not lie down while my mind keeps working three shifts.
Not βrestβ while feeling guilty about everything I’m not accomplishing.
Actually.
Rest.
π
And I am learning that those are very different things.
Sometimes we become so accustomed to surviving that stopping feels irresponsible.
We tell ourselves:
One more thing.
One more person needs me.
One more message.
One more problem.
One more task.
One more grape.
Okay, perhaps that last one is just me. ππ
But eventually our bodies, minds, and hearts begin whispering what we have been too busy to hear:
I’m tired.
And Beloveds, perhaps those aren’t words we need to be ashamed of.
I’m tired.
I’m not feeling my best. βοΈπ€
I need rest.
Those aren’t declarations of defeat.
They are information.
And I’m learning to listen.
Because somewhere inside me, I think I learned how to respect everybody else’s needs before I learned how to respect my own.
I could understand why you needed a break.
I could encourage you to slow down.
I could tell you that your worth wasn’t measured by productivity.
Then Jesus/The Father turned those words around and handed them back to me.
βIt’s okay, Cassandra.β
πβ€οΈ
It’s okay to stop.
It’s okay not to produce today.
It’s okay if somebody else carries something.
It’s okay if the world keeps turning without my supervision. ππ
It’s okay if healing sometimes looks like doing absolutely nothing impressive.
It’s okay if today’s victory is:
I listened when my body said enough.
π©βπ¦½π
And perhaps somebody reading this needs permission too.
So here.
Take some of mine.
You may rest.
You don’t have to finish everything first.
You don’t have to deserve it.
You don’t have to become completely exhausted before rest becomes legitimate.
You don’t have to explain why you’re tired.
You don’t have to apologize because your capacity today isn’t what it was yesterday.
And you certainly don’t have to compare your need for rest with somebody else’s.
Your body is yours.
Your mind is yours.
Your circumstances are yours.
Listen to them.
β€οΈβπ₯
Rest is not necessarily what happens when strength runs out.
Sometimes rest is how we honor the strength we still have.
π
That is something I’m learning in recovery.
I spent so much time looking at what my body could and couldn’t do.
Could I move this?
Could I accomplish that?
Could I regain this?
Could I push a little harder?
But maybe another recovery question deserves equal space:
Can I hear myself when I need tenderness?
Can I stop without calling myself lazy?
Can I receive care without calling myself burdensome?
Can I leave something unfinished without turning unfinished into failure?
Can I believe that my life still matters when I am producing absolutely nothing?
I’m learning.
π
One little grape at a time.
And today one of those grapes is:
Rest before you have completely emptied yourself.
Maybe that’s wisdom.
Maybe that’s healing.
Maybe that’s another chain breaking.
βοΈ
Because we don’t have to spend our lives proving how much we can endure.
Sometimes courage says:
Keep going.
And sometimes courage whispers:
βThat’s enough for today.β
π₯°
π βCome unto me, all ye that labour and are heavy laden, and I will give you rest.β β Matthew 11:28 (KJV)
Notice that.
βI will give you rest.β
A gift.
And gifts are meant to be received.
Oh.
There is that word again.
Receive.
β€οΈβπ₯
Maybe receiving love and receiving rest aren’t as different as I thought.
Both require open hands.
Both require me to stop proving.
Both ask me to believe I am worthy of care even when I am not the one providing it.
So today I’m practicing.
No grand accomplishment.
No heroic recovery story.
Just:
βIt’s okay, Cassandra.β
And me finally answering:
βOkay. I believe You.β
πβ€οΈ
Beloveds, perhaps you can give yourself permission too.
Rest.
Breathe.
Receive.
Let something remain unfinished.
The world does not need you destroyed in order to prove that you cared about it.
πβ€οΈ
You matter while you’re working.
You matter while you’re helping.
You matter while you’re creating.
And yesβ
you matter while you’re asleep.
π
Give yourself permission, beloveds.
I’m learning how too.
One step.
One breath.
One grape.
π
And sometimes…
one beautiful, unapologetic nap.
π΄π
Asking for A Friend,
Cassandra
Unapologetically His. Unapologetically yours.

LOVE IS NOT A LOAN β€οΈβπ₯

AUGUST 20, 2026
LOVE IS NOT A LOAN β€οΈβπ₯
When Ki1ndness Makes Us Look for the Strings Attached
Beloveds,
Can we talk about something uncomfortable this morning?
Sometimes somebody does something genuinely kind for us…
and instead of relaxing into the kindness, our minds immediately start looking for the price tag.
π
What do they want?
What am I going to owe them?
When are they going to bring this back up?
Are they going to use this against me later?
How quickly can I repay them so we’re even again?
And sometimes the person hasn’t asked us for a single thing.
They simply loved us.
But somewhere inside, we’re already reaching for the emotional calculator.
πβ€οΈβπ₯
Because some of us have learnedβthrough experience, observation, disappointment, or simply years of trying to protect ourselvesβthat receiving can feel dangerous.
Maybe somebody once gave to you and reminded you of it every chance they got.
Maybe kindness was used as leverage.
Maybe help came with expectations nobody mentioned until later.
Maybe somebody’s generosity eventually became:
βAfter everything I’ve done for you…β
Whew.
That sentence has wounded a lot of people.
πβ€οΈβπ₯
Because suddenly what we thought was a gift gets rewritten as a debt.
Something freely offered becomes evidence in a future argument.
And after experiencing enough of that, we learn:
Don’t owe anybody anything.
So we become excellent at giving.
We pay our own way.
We solve our own problems.
We don’t ask.
We don’t need.
We don’t receive.
Or, if we absolutely must receive, we immediately begin planning how to pay it back.
Not always because we’re ungrateful.
Sometimes because we’re scared.
β€οΈβπ₯
We don’t want anybody holding anything over our heads.
So our independence becomes armor.
βIf I never need you, you can never say I owe you.β
πβ€οΈβπ₯
There it is.
But beloveds…
what protects us from manipulation can also prevent us from experiencing genuine generosity.
Because not everybody who gives is keeping score.
Not everybody helping you is building leverage.
Not every kindness is a contract.
Not every gift has an invisible repayment schedule.
And healthy love doesn’t require us to spend the rest of our lives proving we deserved what somebody freely chose to give.
Love is not a loan.
β€οΈβπ₯β€οΈβπ₯β€οΈβπ₯
Now let’s be clear.
Healthy relationships involve reciprocity.
We should care about the people who care about us.
We should notice their needs.
We should appreciate sacrifice.
We should contribute where and when we can.
We should not become entitled to somebody else’s time, energy, money, attention, labor, or care.
But reciprocity and repayment are different.
Reciprocity says:
βBecause I love you too, your wellbeing matters to me.β
Repayment says:
βYou did three things for me, therefore I must do three things for you before I can feel safe again.β
One is relationship.
The other is bookkeeping.
π
And some of us have been running emotional accounting departments for YEARS.
ππβ€οΈβπ₯
She drove me twice, so I need to do something.
He paid last time, so now I owe.
They stayed with me when I was struggling, so I need to make myself useful.
They’ve helped me too much. I need to stop needing anything.
Beloved…
CLOSE THE SPREADSHEET.
πβ€οΈβπ₯
Love is getting audited every quarter and would like to file a complaint.
Because healthy love isn’t:
You gave me 47 minutes Tuesday, therefore I owe you 47 minutes Thursday plus interest.
Love moves.
Sometimes unevenly.
Sometimes wildly unevenly.
Sometimes one person has almost nothing to give for a season.
And the other carries more.
Then life turns.
And perhaps years later, the person who once carried you finds themselves needing somewhere to rest.
And because you understand love differently now, you don’t pull out the old ledger.
You pull out a chair.
βSit down. I’ve got you.β
πβ€οΈβπ₯
That’s relationship.
That’s community.
That’s how human beings survive difficult seasons.
β€οΈβπ₯ BUT WHAT ABOUT STRINGS?
This matters.
Because sometimes strings are attached.
We shouldn’t pretend manipulation doesn’t exist.
Sometimes people really do use giving as control.
Sometimes somebody offers help and later weaponizes it.
Sometimes generosity is used to purchase access, obedience, silence, loyalty, affection, or control.
That isn’t healthy generosity.
And learning to receive love doesn’t mean abandoning discernment.
You are allowed to have boundaries.
You are allowed to ask questions.
You are allowed to say no.
You are allowed to notice patterns.
You are allowed to decide that a particular person’s βhelpβ consistently costs more emotionally than you’re willing to pay.
β€οΈβπ₯
Receiving does NOT mean becoming defenseless.
But discernment asks:
βIs this safe and healthy?β
Fear asks:
βHow do I make sure I never need anybody again?β
Those are different questions.
One protects us.
The other can imprison us.
π
Because if our solution to having once received unhealthy love is:
βI will never receive anything from anybody,β
then the people who manipulated us in the past are still influencing the relationships we’re trying to build today.
πβ€οΈβπ₯
Read that one again.
Sometimes yesterday’s strings teach us to distrust today’s open hands.
And healing may require learning to tell the difference.
β€οΈβπ₯ A GIFT IS ALLOWED TO BE A GIFT
This is one of the hardest lessons for people who are accustomed to earning everything:
Someone can simply choose to bless you.
Someone can buy lunch because they wanted to.
Someone can drive you because they wanted to.
Someone can sit with you because they wanted to.
Someone can pray for you because they wanted to.
Someone can rearrange their afternoon because they decided:
βThis person matters to me.β
And you don’t have to argue with their decision.
πβ€οΈβπ₯
You can say:
Thank you.
That’s it.
No:
I’m so sorry.
No:
I’ll make it up to you.
No:
You didn’t have to.
Althoughβlet’s be honestβthat last one flies out of some of our mouths before our brains even clock in for work. ππ
YOU DIDN’T HAVE TO!
Exactly.
Perhaps that’s what makes it love.
They didn’t have to.
They chose to.
β€οΈβπ₯
What if instead of saying:
βYou didn’t have to do that!β
we occasionally tried:
βYou didn’t have to do that. And I’m deeply grateful that you chose to.β
Feel the difference?
One almost pushes the gift backward.
The other receives it.
ππΎ AND THEN THERE IS GRACE.
This is where my faith challenges me deeply.
Because grace doesn’t operate like wages.
Scripture says:
βNow to him that worketh is the reward not reckoned of grace, but of debt.β
β Romans 4:4, KJV
Debt says:
You earned this.
Grace says:
Receive.
And some of us are far more comfortable with debt than grace because debt lets us believe we’re still in control.
If I earned it, nobody gave me anything.
If I paid for it, I owe nobody.
If I deserved it, I never had to experience the vulnerability of receiving.
But grace says:
Open your hands.
πβ€οΈβπ₯
And perhaps learning to receive healthy human love can teach our hearts something about receiving divine grace too.
Not earning.
Not bargaining.
Not keeping score.
Receiving.
Then allowing gratitude to transform how we love others.
Because grace doesn’t make us selfish.
Grace teaches us generosity.
When we finally understand:
βI received something I couldn’t possibly repay,β
we stop demanding repayment from everybody else.
β€οΈβπ₯β€οΈβπ₯β€οΈβπ₯
Maybe that’s why this conversation matters so much.
We’re not merely learning how to accept help.
We’re learning a different economy of love.
Not:
debt β payment β balance zero.
But:
love β gratitude β love flowing outward again.
Not necessarily back to the same person.
Not necessarily in the same amount.
Not necessarily tomorrow.
Just love continuing its journey.
Someone carries me.
Eventually I become strong enough to carry somebody else.
They carry somebody.
That person carries another.
And suddenly what began as one act of kindness becomes a whole community where people are allowed to need one another.
πβ€οΈβπ₯
THAT’S the kind of world I want.
β€οΈβπ₯ THE CASSANDRA CHALLENGE
Today, notice what happens inside you when somebody offers something.
Do you immediately think:
βWhat will I owe?β
Don’t judge yourself.
Just notice.
Then ask:
βHas this person actually attached a conditionβor is an old fear attaching one for them?β
That’s discernment.
β€οΈ DAILY LOVE CHALLENGE
Receive one small kindness today without immediately returning it.
A compliment.
A held door.
A phone call.
A meal.
A favor.
A prayer.
Help.
Whatever comes.
Say:
βThank you. I appreciate that.β
And stop.
No repayment plan.
No apology.
No emotional invoice.
Just receive.
π DAILY VICTORY
Today I will remember:
Gratitude is not indebtedness.
I can appreciate someone’s sacrifice without turning myself into their debtor.
ππΎ MORNING PRAYER
Father,
Some of us have learned to fear receiving because receiving has not always felt safe.
Some of us remember strings.
Some remember manipulation.
Some remember hearing:
βAfter everything I’ve done for you…β
And those memories taught us to keep our hands closed.
Give us wisdom.
Not naΓ―vetΓ©.
Not suspicion of everybody.
Wisdom.
Teach us to recognize healthy love.
Teach us boundaries where love is unhealthy.
Teach us gratitude where love is genuine.
And teach us how to receive without immediately trying to earn our way out of being loved.
When You send good people into our lives, help us recognize them.
When someone freely chooses to help us, help us honor their choice.
And when fear whispers:
βYou owe them now,β
help us ask whether that voice is telling the truth.
Most of all, teach us grace.
Your love cannot be reduced to a transaction.
Help us receive it.
And then help us give from the abundance of having been loved.
Amen.
β€οΈβπ₯
Beloveds…
Perhaps somebody is loving you right now.
And you’ve been so busy searching their hands for strings that you haven’t noticed:
their hands may simply be open.
ππβ€οΈβπ₯
Look carefully.
Use wisdom.
Keep your boundaries.
But when genuine love comes…
let it come.
You don’t have to turn every gift into a debt.
You don’t have to turn every kindness into obligation.
You don’t have to pay interest on affection.
Sometimes love really is saying:
βThis is for you.β
And your whole assignment is:
Receive it.
Tomorrow we’re going deeper.
Because underneath βI don’t want to owe anybodyβ sometimes lives an even more frightening confession:
βIf I let myself need you, you have the power to hurt me.β
ππβ€οΈβπ₯
We’ll talk about that.
Unapologetically His.
Unapologetically yours.
Asking for A Friend,

WHO TOLD YOU THAT YOU WERE A BURDEN? β€οΈβπ₯
AUGUST 19, 2026
WHO TOLD YOU THAT YOU WERE A BURDEN? β€οΈβπ₯
When Needing Help Starts Feeling Like Something Is Wrong With Us
Beloveds,
I want to ask you something this morning.
And I don’t want the quick answer.
I want the answer underneath the answer.
Who taught you that needing somebody made you a burden?
πβ€οΈβπ₯
Because somewhere along the way, many of us stopped saying:
βI need help.β
And started saying:
βI’m a problem.β
Those are NOT the same sentence.
One describes a need.
The other attacks a person.
One says:
βThere is something I cannot carry alone right now.β
The other says:
βThere is something wrong with me because I cannot carry it alone.β
And beloveds, that little change in language can reveal a whole lot of buried shame.
πβ€οΈβπ₯
Maybe life changed.
Your body changed.
Your finances changed.
Your marriage changed.
Your family changed.
Your job disappeared.
Your grief became heavier than you expected.
Your mind became exhausted.
Your confidence collapsed.
Your independence changed.
Maybe something you have done effortlessly for years suddenly became difficult.
And now somebody has to help.
That’s already hard.
But then shame arrives carrying a microphone.
π’ Look at you.
Everybody has to stop what they’re doing because of YOU.
You’re making their lives harder.
They must be tired of you.
You used to handle this yourself.
What happened to you?
You’re a burden.
Beloveds…
WHO SAID THAT?
β€οΈβπ₯β€οΈβπ₯β€οΈβπ₯
And more importantly:
Why did we believe it?
There is an enormous difference between acknowledging that caring for us sometimes costs other people something and deciding that because love costs something, we are too costly to love.
Read that slowly.
Love having a cost does not mean YOU are too costly to love.
People we love require things from us.
Time.
Patience.
Listening.
Driving.
Waiting.
Forgiving.
Helping.
Sitting.
Showing up.
Sometimes cleaning up.
Sometimes rearranging plans.
Sometimes simply staying when leaving would be easier.
That’s relationship.
That’s humanity.
That’s community.
β€οΈβπ₯
But shame takes a normal human realityβ
βSomeone sacrificed something to help meβ
βand turns it into a verdict:
βTherefore I am a burden.β
No.
Let’s separate those things.
Someone can be tired and still love you.
Someone can be inconvenienced and still choose you.
Someone can need a break and still want you in their life.
Someone can have boundaries and still care deeply.
Someone can occasionally feel frustrated without secretly wishing you would disappear.
πβ€οΈβπ₯
THIS is important.
Because sometimes we become so afraid of burdening people that we start trying to read their minds.
They’re quiet?
They’re tired of me.
They sigh?
I’m getting on their nerves.
They need an afternoon to themselves?
See? I’m too much.
They don’t answer immediately?
I knew eventually everybody would leave.
Beloveds…
Sometimes a sigh is just a sigh.
ππβ€οΈβπ₯
Sometimes people are tired because people get tired.
Sometimes the person helping you needs help too.
Healthy receiving does not require pretending caregivers never become exhausted.
It means learning that:
Their humanity does not cancel your worth.
And your need does not cancel theirs.
Both can be true.
β€οΈβπ₯
We can appreciate people.
We can respect boundaries.
We can ask what they need.
We can say thank you.
We can learn what we’re able to do for ourselves.
We can keep growing.
ANDβ
we can stop treating our existence like something requiring an apology.
πβ€οΈβπ₯
Some of us need to retire a sentence:
βI’m sorry I’m such a burden.β
Because what exactly are we asking the person who loves us to do with that?
Sometimes they spend the next ten minutes trying to convince us that we’re worthy of the love they were already freely giving.
What if instead we said:
βI know this isn’t easy. Thank you for being here.β
That honors reality.
It acknowledges sacrifice.
And it doesn’t require us to destroy ourselves in the process.
β€οΈβπ₯
Scripture says:
βBear ye one another’s burdens, and so fulfil the law of Christ.β
β Galatians 6:2, KJV
Yesterday we talked about something hidden inside that verse:
If we’re commanded to carry one another’s burdens…
then sometimes I am going to be the βanother.β
π
Sometimes you carry.
Sometimes you are carried.
Sometimes you cook the meal.
Sometimes somebody brings one to your door.
Sometimes you make the phone call.
Sometimes you need somebody to make one for you.
Sometimes you pray over somebody else’s tears.
Sometimes you cannot get your own prayer past:
βJesus, help me.β
And somebody else prays while you cry.
ππβ€οΈβπ₯
None of those moments determines your permanent identity.
**Being carried is something happening to you.
βBurdenβ is something shame is calling you.**
Learn the difference.
β€οΈβπ₯
And here’s another difficult truth:
Some of us became valuable to ourselves because of how useful we could be to everybody else.
We became the strong one.
The dependable one.
The helper.
The fixer.
The rescuer.
The one everybody calls.
And being needed became part of how we knew we mattered.
Then life turned around and said:
Now YOU need somebody.
π±β€οΈβπ₯
And suddenly our entire understanding of worth gets shaken.
Because if I can’t prove my worth through what I do for everybody…
Am I still worth loving?
YES.
And maybe that’s the lesson.
Maybe love is trying to reach deeper than usefulness.
Maybe somebody is trying to love the person underneath everything you can do for them.
Not your productivity.
Not your strength.
Not your ability.
Not your usefulness.
YOU.
πβ€οΈβπ₯
And perhaps that’s why receiving feels so uncomfortable.
Because receiving asks us to believe something giving never required us to believe:
I can be loved while bringing nothing to this particular moment except myself.
WHEW.
β€οΈβπ₯β€οΈβπ₯β€οΈβπ₯
Beloveds, we are not talking about entitlement.
We’re not talking about demanding that everybody abandon themselves for us.
Healthy love has boundaries.
Healthy caregivers need rest.
Healthy relationships communicate.
But boundaries and shame are not the same thing.
Someone saying:
βI love you, and I need to rest tonightβ
doesn’t mean:
βYou are too much.β
It may simply mean:
βI love you, AND I am human too.β
And perhaps healthy receiving sounds like:
βI understand. Thank you for everything you’ve already done. Go rest.β
Look at that.
No guilt.
No manipulation.
No abandonment panic.
No martyrdom.
Just two human beings loving one another while allowing each other to remain human.
β€οΈβπ₯
So today I want us to challenge the sentence:
βI am a burden.β
Replace it with the truth:
βI am a human being carrying something heavy, and right now I need help carrying it.β
That’s different.
Very different.
And one day, beloved…
somebody you love may be carrying something heavy.
And perhaps because you remember what it felt like to be carried without humiliation…
you will know exactly how to reach for their hand.
πβ€οΈβπ₯
β€οΈβπ₯ THE CASSANDRA CHALLENGE
Catch yourself today if you sayβor even THINK:
βI’m a burden.β
Stop.
Then finish this sentence instead:
βI am not a burden. I am currently carrying ________, and I need help with ________.β
Name the circumstance.
Don’t turn the circumstance into your identity.
β€οΈ DAILY LOVE CHALLENGE
If someone helps you today, resist the urge to immediately minimize your need or promise repayment.
Look at them.
And say:
βThank you for helping me carry this.β
Let that be enough.
π DAILY VICTORY
I needed help, and I allowed myself to receive it without turning my need into shame.
That counts.
Maybe more than we realize.
ππΎ MORNING PRAYER
Father,
Somewhere along the way, some of us learned that being strong meant never needing anybody.
Please unteach us.
Show us the difference between responsibility and shame.
Give us courage to do what we can.
Humility to ask when we cannot.
Wisdom to respect the boundaries of those who love us.
And grace to receive what they freely choose to give.
When shame whispers,
βYou’re a burden,β
remind us:
We are people.
People sometimes hurt.
People sometimes fall.
People sometimes need.
People sometimes carry.
And people sometimes need carrying.
Teach us how to do both with love.
And Father, for the person reading this who feels like everybody would be better without their needs…
come close.
Remind them that a difficult season is not their identity.
Remind them that needing care does not erase their dignity.
And teach all of us how to build communities where nobody has to pretend to be invincible just to feel worthy of belonging.
Amen. β€οΈβπ₯
Today, beloveds…
Stop calling yourself what shame called you.
You are not the difficulty you’re experiencing.
You are not the assistance you require.
You are not somebody else’s inconvenience.
You are a human being.
Loved.
Learning.
Carrying some things.
Being carried through others.
And still becoming.
Unapologetically His.
Unapologetically yours.
Asking for A Friend,

STOP APOLOGIZING FOR NEEDING LOVE β€οΈβπ₯π
AUGUST 18, 2026
STOP APOLOGIZING FOR NEEDING LOVE β€οΈβπ₯π
Receiving Love When Guilt and Shame Tell Us Weβre a Burden
Beloveds,
Some of us know how to give love.
We know how to show up.
We know how to pray for everybody else. Encourage everybody else. Check on everybody else. Carry everybody else.
But then life happens.
Illness happens.
Grief happens.
Disability happens.
Divorce happens.
Depression happens.
Financial trouble happens.
Job loss happens.
Age happens.
Exhaustion happens.
Plain old I cannot do this by myself today happens.
And suddenly, we’re standing on the other side of love.
We’re not giving.
We’re receiving.
And nobody warned us how vulnerable that could feel. πβ€οΈβπ₯
Because sometimes somebody loves us beautifullyβand instead of immediately feeling loved, we feel guilty.
They rearrange their schedule.
I’m sorry.
They come running.
I’m sorry.
They help us clean something up.
I’m so sorry.
They sit with us while we cry.
I’m sorry you have to deal with me.
They sacrifice something because we need them.
I’m sorry. I’m sorry. I’m sorry.
Beloveds…
When did βthank you for loving meβ become βI’m sorry you had toβ?
β€οΈβπ₯β€οΈβπ₯β€οΈβπ₯
There is guilt that belongs to accountability.
If we have harmed someone, we should acknowledge it. Apologize. Make amends where possible. Learn. Grow. Change.
But there is another guilt that has nothing to do with wrongdoing.
It comes simply because we needed somebody.
And sometimes shame joins it.
Guilt says:
βI shouldn’t need this much help.β
Shame takes it further:
βSomething must be wrong with ME because I need this much help.β
Guilt says:
I’m causing trouble.
Shame says:
I AM trouble.
Oh, beloved.
Those are two very different statements.
πβ€οΈβπ₯
Maybe somebody reading this has been ashamed of needing help getting dressed.
Maybe you needed money.
Maybe somebody had to drive you somewhere.
Maybe you couldn’t take care of your children the way you normally would.
Maybe grief flattened you and somebody had to feed you.
Maybe your body changed.
Maybe your mind became exhausted.
Maybe you couldn’t work.
Maybe you needed somebody to sit beside you because being alone felt like too much.
Maybe you needed help with something so private that accepting assistance made you want to disappear.
Maybe you’ve whispered:
βI hate that somebody has to do this for me.β
I understand that feeling.
But I am learning something.
β€οΈβπ₯
Needing love does not make us unlovable.
And needing help does not automatically make us helpless.
Read that again.
HELP and HELPLESS are not synonyms.
Sometimes capable people need help.
Strong people need help.
Caregivers need care.
Encouragers need encouragement.
People who have spent years carrying everybody else occasionally become the person who needs carrying.
That doesn’t erase who they are.
It simply means:
Today, it’s my turn to be held.
πβ€οΈβπ₯
And maybe that’s why receiving can be so difficult.
Giving lets us remain in control.
When I’m giving, I decide what I give, when I give it, and how much.
Receiving requires something different.
Receiving requires trust.
I have to believe you when you say:
I came because I wanted to.
I’m helping because I love you.
You’re worth my time.
You’re worth rearranging things for.
You don’t have to earn this.
And sometimes our first instinct is to argue.
But I’m a burden.
But you’re tired.
But you shouldn’t have to.
But I should be able to do this myself.
Beloveds, what if we stopped correcting people’s math when they decide we’re worth the trouble?
πβ€οΈβπ₯β€οΈβπ₯β€οΈβπ₯
What if instead of:
βI’m sorry you had to come,β
we practiced:
βThank you for coming.β
Instead of:
βI’m sorry I’m taking so much of your time,β
try:
βThank you for giving me your time.β
Instead of:
βI’m sorry you have to help me,β
try:
βThank you for helping me.β
Instead of:
βI’m sorry you have to walk through this with me,β
try:
βThank you for walking through this with me.β
Do you see it?
The need didn’t disappear.
The sacrifice wasn’t minimized.
Nobody became entitled.
But shame left the sentence.
β€οΈβπ₯
Gratitude says:
βI see what your love costs, and I appreciate what you freely chose to give.β
That is different from guilt saying:
βBecause your love cost you something, I must be a problem.β
NO.
Love has always cost something.
Time costs something.
Presence costs something.
Patience costs something.
Friendship costs something.
Family costs something.
Commitment costs something.
And yesβsometimes loving one another will inconvenience us.
That’s part of being human together.
Today I may need you.
Tomorrow you may need me.
And perhaps neither of us needs to keep a ledger.
β€οΈβπ₯
Scripture says:
βBear ye one another’s burdens, and so fulfil the law of Christ.β
β Galatians 6:2, KJV
Notice that Scripture doesn’t tell us only to become excellent burden-carriers.
If somebody is going to bear another’s burden, somebody somewhere has to be willing to let theirs be carried.
πβ€οΈβπ₯
We talk a lot about the holiness of helping.
Maybe we need to talk about the humility of being helped.
We celebrate the giver.
Maybe God is teaching some of us how to become gracious receivers too.
Because even our relationship with Him begins there.
βWe love him, because he first loved us.β
β 1 John 4:19, KJV
He first loved us.
Before our response.
Before our repayment plan.
Before our performance.
Love came first.
Grace came first.
β€οΈβπ₯
So perhaps today we practice something that sounds tiny but may be enormous:
When love comes toward you…
don’t immediately apologize.
Notice the guilt.
Notice the shame.
Notice that instinct telling you to become smaller.
And then, if you can, open your hands.
Let somebody love you.
Say:
βThank you.β
You don’t have to turn every kindness into a debt.
You don’t have to earn every hug.
You don’t have to repay every hour somebody spends beside you.
You don’t have to apologize for every season in which you cannot be the strong one.
And you certainly don’t have to apologize for being human.
β€οΈβπ₯π
Somebody may need this tomorrow morning:
You are allowed to receive love at your weakest without believing weakness has become your identity.
You are allowed to receive help without calling yourself helpless.
You are allowed to be carried without deciding you have become a burden.
You are allowed to cry when somebody shows up.
You are allowed to discover that people love you more deeply than you realized.
And you are allowed to simply say:
Thank you for coming for me.
No apology attached.
No invoice.
No emotional bookkeeping.
Just gratitude.
Just grace.
Just love.
And perhaps this morning, instead of asking,
βHow quickly can I stop needing everybody?β
we ask a different question:
βCan I become healthy enough to give love when I can, ask for love when I need it, and receive love when it comes?β
That’s not weakness.
That’s relationship.
That’s community.
That’s how we carry one another home.
β€οΈβπ₯
β€οΈβπ₯ THE CASSANDRA CHALLENGE
Today, catch one unnecessary apology.
Just one.
When you hear yourself apologizing simply because you needed something, pause.
Replace:
βI’m sorryβ¦β
with:
βThank youβ¦β
Then notice what happens inside you.
It might feel uncomfortable.
That’s okay.
We’re learning.
Together.
ππΎ A MORNING PRAYER
Father,
Some of us are wonderful at giving love and terrified of receiving it.
Teach us.
Where guilt is appropriate, give us courage to make things right.
But where guilt is lying to usβwhere shame is telling us that our needs make us worthless, difficult, or unlovableβhelp us recognize the lie.
Teach us to receive the people You send.
Teach us gratitude without shame.
Dependence on You without embarrassment.
Community without keeping score.
And when somebody chooses to carry us for a while, help us resist the urge to apologize for every step.
Help us simply whisper:
Thank You, Lord.
And to those loving us:
Thank you for coming.
Amen. β€οΈβπ₯
Daily Victory:
Today, I will not confuse needing help with being helpless.
Daily Love Challenge:
Let somebody do one kind thing for you today without immediately trying to repay them.
Receive it.
Say thank you.
And let love finish what it came to do.
Unapologetically His.
Unapologetically yours.
Asking for A Friend,
Cassandra

βοΈ FEAR DOESN’T OWN THE KEYS ANYMORE!ππ¦΅π¦Ώπ¦Ύπͺπβ€οΈβπ₯πͺ½ππ
Beloveds,
βοΈ FEAR DOESN’T OWN THE KEYS ANYMORE
ME. HERE. NOW. FREE. β€οΈβπ₯π
I need to tell you what freedom has been looking like lately.
It hasn’t looked the way I expected.
There were no trumpets.
No dramatic movie scene.
No moment when every problem disappeared.
There were tears.
There was sadness.
There was heartbreak. π
There was exhaustion.
There were bodily struggles.
There were bathroom messes.
There was receiving help when I desperately wanted to be the person who didn’t need any.
There was guilt because people I love rearranged things to care for me.
There were moments when recovery made ordinary tasks feel enormous.
There were moments I wondered what parts of ME were still mine.
And somewhere in the middle of all that…
something started breaking.
βοΈπ₯
Not me.
THE CHAINS.
Fear had been asking me questions:
What if you can’t?
What if life never looks the same?
What if people get tired?
What if you need too much?
What if your body embarrasses you?
What if tomorrow is difficult?
What if?
What if?
WHAT IF?
Then something changed.
I stopped believing fear was qualified to predict my future.
β€οΈβπ₯
βFor God hath not given us the spirit of fear; but of power, and of love, and of a sound mind.β β 2 Timothy 1:7, KJV
And my freedom started showing up in ordinary places.
I received love.
I allowed people to help me.
I started learning that thank you doesn’t require an apology afterward.
I handled difficult body things without allowing them to define my dignity.
I laughed about things I once might have hidden in shame.
I ate an ENTIRE burger. ππ
I watched YouTube.
I sang.
I folded clothes.
I prepared for tomorrow.
I chose something cute to wear.
And tonight I became so excited that I couldn’t find my glasses…
Beloveds…
THEY WERE IN THE GLASSES CASE.
ππππ€£π€£π€£
Please celebrate responsibly.
But while you’re laughing with me, understand why I’m telling you.
I WAS EXCITED.
After everythingβ
I was excited about LIFE.
πβ€οΈβπ₯
And suddenly I realized:
Maybe freedom isn’t always dramatic.
Sometimes freedom looks like enjoying dinner.
Sometimes freedom looks like accepting help without shame.
Sometimes freedom looks like laughing at your body instead of hating it.
Sometimes freedom looks like folding laundry.
Sometimes freedom looks like singing to somebody you love.
Sometimes freedom looks like picking tomorrow’s clothes because somewhere inside you has begun believing:
THERE IS A TOMORROW I WANT TO MEET.
πββοΈβ€οΈβπ₯
Beloveds, I am not telling you I will never feel fear again.
That’s not what freedom means.
Scripture gives us something much stronger:
βWhat time I am afraid, I will trust in thee.β β Psalm 56:3, KJV
Freedom doesn’t mean fear can never knock again.
It means:
FEAR DOESN’T OWN THE HOUSE.
Fear doesn’t get the keys.
Fear doesn’t get the microphone.
Fear doesn’t get the steering wheel.
Fear doesn’t decide whether I try.
Fear doesn’t decide whether I receive love.
Fear doesn’t decide whether I show up.
Fear doesn’t decide whether I dream again.
Fear doesn’t decide whether I laugh.
Fear doesn’t decide whether I live.
β€οΈβπ₯
βThe LORD is my light and my salvation; whom shall I fear?β β Psalm 27:1, KJV
Some of you aren’t recovering from a stroke.
But you’re recovering from something.
A death.
A divorce.
A betrayal.
A diagnosis.
A failure.
A childhood.
A mistake.
A dream that died.
A relationship that changed.
A season you thought would destroy you.
Maybe fear has been running your house too.
Beloved…
ask for your keys back.
βοΈβ€οΈβπ₯
You do not have to wait until fear disappears before you move.
Move afraid if necessary.
Speak afraid.
Apply afraid.
Go to therapy afraid.
Ask for help afraid.
Receive love afraid.
Try again afraid.
Rest afraid.
Begin again afraid.
βYea, though I walk through the valley of the shadow of death, I will fear no evil: for thou art with me…β β Psalm 23:4, KJV
Notice the word:
THROUGH.
We aren’t required to decorate the valley and live there forever.
We move THROUGH.
Walking.
Rolling. π©πΎβπ¦½
Crawling.
Crying.
Praying.
Laughing.
Resting when necessary.
Getting back up when able.
But THROUGH.
βFear thou not; for I am with thee… I will strengthen thee; yea, I will help thee…β β Isaiah 41:10, KJV
And sometimes His help arrives through PEOPLE.
That one has been teaching me something.
Someone loving you does not automatically create a debt.
Someone helping you doesn’t automatically make you weak.
Someone rearranging something because you matter to them doesn’t require you to spend the next week apologizing for existing.
Sometimes love says:
Let me help.
And healing says:
Thank you.
πβ€οΈ
βBear ye one another’s burdens, and so fulfil the law of Christ.β β Galatians 6:2, KJV
Sometimes we carry.
Sometimes we are carried.
And sometimes accepting the carrying is its own act of courage.
β€οΈβπ₯
So today I give thanks.
Thank You, Jesus/The Father.
Thank You for the tears I survived.
Thank You for the people who stayed.
Thank You for the love I am learning to receive.
Thank You for laughter.
Thank You for food.
Thank You for music.
Thank You for another outfit.
Thank You for another appointment.
Thank You for another opportunity to try.
Thank You for the parts of my body learning.
Thank You for adaptations.
Thank You for help.
Thank You for progress.
Thank You for HOPE.
Thank You that I am still ME.
And yesβ
Thank You for putting my glasses somewhere so sensible that apparently I couldn’t locate them.
πππ€£ππΎ
βO give thanks unto the LORD; for he is good: for his mercy endureth for ever.β β Psalm 107:1, KJV
Beloveds, perhaps your chain-breaking moment won’t look dramatic either.
Maybe today you simply make the call.
Eat the meal.
Take the shower.
Accept the help.
Put on something you love.
Laugh.
Cry.
Try.
Rest.
Plan something for tomorrow.
Whatever yours isβ
DO NOT DESPISE THE ORDINARY EVIDENCE THAT YOU ARE COMING ALIVE AGAIN.
β€οΈβπ₯
βIf the Son therefore shall make you free, ye shall be free indeed.β β John 8:36, KJV
FREE INDEED.
Not someday.
Not after perfection.
Not after every wound closes.
Not after everybody understands.
Here.
Now.
And if fear comes knocking again?
You don’t have to panic because you heard the knock.
You already know:
IT DOESN’T HAVE A KEY.
βοΈπ₯π
Today I am:
HERE.
HOPEFUL.
LOVED.
READY.
FREE TO KEEP BECOMING.
FREE TO RECEIVE.
FREE TO LAUGH.
FREE TO LOVE.
FREE TO LIVE.
FREE TO BE ME.
And I want that freedom for YOU too. πβ€οΈ
β€οΈβπ₯ THE CASSANDRA CHALLENGE
Today, identify one thing fear has been deciding for you.
Then do one small thing that says:
Fear, you don’t make this decision anymore.
Make the call.
Ask for help.
Accept the invitation.
Try the thing.
Schedule the appointment.
Wear the outfit.
Eat the burger. ππ
Or simply prepare for tomorrow.
And tonight, thank Jesus/The Father for one ordinary sign that you are still becoming.
Because sometimes the chains don’t hit the floor with a deafening crash.
Sometimes you simply look around one day and realize:
I’M MOVING AGAIN.

BELOVEDS, LEARN TO RECEIVE THE LOVE β€οΈβπ₯π

AUGUST 17, 2026
BELOVEDS, LEARN TO RECEIVE THE LOVE β€οΈβπ₯π
Beloveds,
I HAD to make a follow up piece!β€οΈβπ₯
Some of us know how to love everybody except ourselves when we are the ones who need love.
We will show up.
Give.
Help.
Call.
Pray.
Encourage.
Drop what we’re doing.
Sit beside somebody.
Carry what they cannot carry.
And tell them:
βDon’t you dare apologize. I love you.β
πβ€οΈ
But let somebody do the same thing for US?
π±
Suddenly we’re standing there with a calculator.
How much did this cost you?
How much time did you lose?
What do I owe you?
Did I inconvenience you?
Are you secretly irritated?
When will you bring this up again?
What are the strings?
Beloveds…
some of us don’t receive love.
We audit it.
πβ€οΈβπ₯
We examine every act of kindness looking for an invoice.
And sometimes there IS a reason.
Some of us have experienced people who gave and later reminded us:
βAfter everything I’ve done for you…β
Some of us learned that help came with expectations.
Some learned that affection could be withdrawn.
Some learned that gifts created obligations.
Some learned that saying yes to someone’s help meant losing the right to say no later.
So now genuine love arrives…
and our hearts don’t know what to do with it.
π
We start feeling guilty simply because somebody gave us something.
But beloveds, listen carefully:
Someone giving to you does not automatically mean you did something wrong.
Guilt is appropriate when we have harmed someone, manipulated someone, ignored their boundaries, lied, exploited kindness, or behaved wrongly.
But needing someone?
Receiving appropriate help?
Allowing somebody who loves you to choose to show up?
That is not automatically wrongdoing.
Sometimes what we’re calling guilt is actually vulnerability.
Sometimes it’s grief.
Sometimes it’s embarrassment.
Sometimes it’s fear of rejection.
Sometimes it’s fear that somebody will keep score.
And sometimes…
we simply haven’t learned how to be on the receiving side of love.
β€οΈβπ₯β€οΈβπ₯β€οΈβπ₯
So here’s something we can practice together:
PAUSE. CHECK. RECEIVE. THANK. RELEASE.
PAUSE.
Before automatically saying, βNo, no, no, I’m fine,β stop.
CHECK.
Is this safe?
Is this freely offered?
Does this person have the freedom to say no?
Are there actual conditions attachedβor am I expecting strings because I’ve encountered strings before?
RECEIVE.
If it is safe and freely given, let somebody love you.
Yes.
YOU.
π±β€οΈ
THANK.
Not:
βI’m so sorry you had to do this.β
Not:
βI’ll make this up to you.β
Not:
βI owe you big time.β
Try:
βThank you. This means a lot to me.β
And then comes the part some of us absolutely HATE. ππ
RELEASE.
Put down the imaginary calculator.
You do not have to immediately make everything even.
Healthy relationships are not spreadsheets.
Love circulates.
Today someone carries you.
Another day you may carry them.
Or somebody else.
What you eventually give may look nothing like what you received.
That’s okay.
Love isn’t reimbursement.
β€οΈβπ₯
And please remember this:
GRATITUDE IS NOT INDEBTEDNESS.
You can appreciate someone’s generosity without surrendering your boundaries.
Someone helping you does not automatically purchase your future yes.
Your time.
Your agreement.
Your silence.
Your decisions.
Your emotional access.
Your forgiveness.
Your availability.
βThank youβ is not a contract.
And healthy love can survive hearing:
βNo.β
β€οΈβπ₯
Now for those of us who follow Jesus, this gets even deeper.
Matthew 10:8 says:
βFreely ye have received, freely give.β
Look at the order.
RECEIVE.
Then give.
And 1 John 4:19 says:
βWe love him, because he first loved us.β
Again:
FIRST LOVED.
Before we performed.
Before we proved ourselves.
Before we gave something back.
Before we made ourselves useful.
We received.
πβ€οΈβπ₯
Maybe some of us have mastered giving because giving feels powerful.
Receiving?
Receiving requires vulnerability.
Receiving requires opening our hands.
Receiving requires believing someone’s yes without inventing a secret no for them.
Receiving requires saying:
βMaybe I don’t have to earn every ounce of tenderness that reaches me.β
πβ€οΈβπ₯
So here’s today’s Love Challenge:
When somebody safely and genuinely offers you love, kindness, encouragement, time, help, or care…
don’t immediately reach for your emotional wallet.
Try saying:
βThank you. I receive that.β
Then STOP.
π±π
No apology.
No repayment plan.
No fourteen-page Terms & Conditions.
No emotional promissory note.
Just:
Thank you.
And when guilt whispers:
βThey gave. You owe.β
Answer:
βThey gave. I am grateful.β
When guilt says:
βYou’re a burden.β
Answer:
βNeeding love does not make me shameful.β
When fear says:
βThere must be strings.β
Answer:
βI will look for evidence instead of inventing a debt.β
And when your heart says:
βI don’t know how to receive love yet…β
Tell it gently:
βThen we will learn.β
Because maybe healing isn’t only learning how to stand again after life knocks us down.
Maybe healing is learning how to let somebody sit beside us before we stand.
ππβ€οΈβπ₯
Beloveds, some of us have spent our entire lives learning how to pour.
Perhaps it’s time we learned that the cup is allowed to be filled too.
Receive the love.
No invoice.
No shame.
No apology for needing it.
And where genuine love is concerned…
no strings required.
Unapologetically His/Unapologetically yours,
Asking for A Friend,
Cassandra

MESSAGE β YOU DIDN’T MISS YOUR MORNING βοΈβ€οΈβπ₯

AUGUST 17, 2026
MESSAGE β YOU DIDN’T MISS YOUR MORNING βοΈβ€οΈβπ₯
Beloveds,
Good morning.
Or good whenever-you-finally-got-here. πβ€οΈ
Some of usΒ are already up ready for the day.
Some of us woke up already tired.
Somebody had appointments.
Somebody had phone calls.
Somebody is waiting for an answer.
Somebody is taking care of children, parents, partnersβor themselves.
Somebody’s plans went sideways before breakfast.
And somebody looked at the clock and thought:
Well. There goes my morning.
Nope.
Come here. β€οΈ
You did not miss your life because your morning didn’t go according to plan.
You are here now.
Begin here.
βοΈ MORNING ASPIRATION
Today, I will stop requiring myself to have a perfect beginning.
I will begin where I am.
If I am tired, I will begin tired.
If I am hopeful, I will begin hopeful.
If I am hurting, I will begin hurting.
If I’m behind schedule, I will begin from here.
If yesterday is still sitting heavily on my heart, I will carry it gently instead of pretending it disappeared overnight.
I do not have to become somebody else before I participate in my own life.
Today already belongs to me.
And I intend to live some of it. β€οΈβπ₯
π TODAY’S WORD
βThis is the day which the LORD hath made; we will rejoice and be glad in it.β β Psalm 118:24, KJV
Notice what it doesn’t say.
This is the day the Lord hath made provided everything goes according to Cassandra’s color-coded itinerary.
π
Nope.
This day.
The interrupted one.
The doctor’s-office one.
The therapy one.
The work one.
The caregiving one.
The grieving one.
The starting-over one.
The ordinary one.
The Lord, what in the world are we doing? one.
This one.
π
π§ YOUR VOICE, YOUR STORY
Take one slow breath.
Then say aloud:
βI am here.β
Again:
βI am here.β
And one more:
βI don’t have to rush through today to prove that I’m living it.β
Your voice doesn’t have to sound like anybody else’s.
Your story doesn’t have to move at anybody else’s speed.
Use what you have today.
β€οΈ DAILY LOVE CHALLENGE
Today, when somebody does something kind for you, practice receiving it.
Instead of immediately apologizing, minimizing, or trying to repay them, try two words:
Thank you.
Let kindness land.
And if you’re the person helping somebody today, don’t make them feel ashamed for needing you.
Let your help communicate:
βYou are safe to need something around me.β
That’s love too.
β€οΈβπ₯ TODAY’S VICTORY CHALLENGE
Stop once today and notice something you DID.
Not what remains unfinished.
Not what you used to be able to do.
Not what everybody else accomplished.
What did YOU do today?
Maybe you got out of bed.
Made the call.
Went to the appointment.
Took the medicine.
Asked the question.
Went to work.
Fed yourself.
Apologized.
Set a boundary.
Tried again.
Rested when you needed rest.
Survived a difficult hour.
Whatever it is:
Count it.
Small victories are still victories.
π FOR THOSE WHO PRAY
Father,
Thank You for another morningβeven when we arrived late to it.
Some of us are strong today.
Some are tired.
Some are frightened.
Some are grieving.
Some are waiting for answers.
Some are beginning again.
Meet every one of us where we actually are.
Teach us not to abandon ourselves when life becomes difficult.
Teach us to receive love without shame.
Teach us to offer love without making others earn it.
Give us courage for today’s workβnot next month’s work, not next year’s work.
Today’s.
Give us our daily bread.
Our daily strength.
Our daily mercy.
And when we cannot see very far ahead, remind us that we don’t have to see the entire road to take the next faithful step.
In Jesus’ name,
Amen. πβ€οΈβπ₯
π AND IF PRAYER ISN’T YOUR THING
You still belong here.
Take what serves you:
You don’t need to solve your entire life today.
You don’t have to pretend you’re okay.
You don’t have to perform positivity.
You don’t have to compete with yesterday’s version of yourself.
Just ask:
What do I need today?
Then give yourself permission to answer honestly.
βοΈ TODAY’S REMINDER
Beloveds, maybe the goal isn’t:
βToday I will have everything together.β
Maybe it’s simply:
βToday I will stay with myself.β
Through the interruption.
Through the appointment.
Through the work.
Through the disappointment.
Through the laughter.
Through the mess.
Through the progress.
Through the ordinary.
And tonight, instead of asking only,
βHow much did I accomplish?β
ask:
βDid I show up for the person living my life?β
Because you are not merely waiting for your life to improve.
You are living it now.
Begin. Again.
β€οΈβπ₯

π GOD SAID NO. ππ½π
August 14, 2026
Beloveds,
I almost gave up.
God said NO. ππ½
I wanted to walk away.
God said NO.
I wanted to run ππ½ββοΈπ¨, hide, cry, disappear under the covers and tell everybody, βY’all figure it out. I’m DONE.β πππ€π΅βπ«
And God said:
βHELL TO THE NAH!β ππ€£ππ½
Whew. Okay, Jesus. Message received. πππ
Today hurt.
Not the cute kind of hurt that fits nicely inside an inspirational quote.
I’m talking about the kind of hurt that makes you wonder how much more your heart can possibly carry. π
I cried.
I grieved.
I wanted OUT.
Not out of life.
Out of the pain.
Out of having to be strong.
Out of having to adjust.
Out of having to keep finding courage when I felt like I had already used every last drop. π’π€
And somewhere between βGod, I can’t do thisβ and βGod, I don’t WANT to do this,β something inside me refused to quit.
I know Who that was. ππ½β€οΈ
God said:
NO.
No, Cassandra, you don’t get to decide the story is over because this chapter hurts.
No, you don’t get to confuse exhaustion with defeat.
No, you don’t get to call yourself finished while I’m still working.
No, you don’t have to understand tonight.
You just have to stay. β€οΈβπ©Ή
π Philippians 1:6 KJV
βBeing confident of this very thing, that he which hath begun a good work in you will perform it until the day of Jesus Christ:β
THAT’S IT. π―ππ½
Maybe tonight isn’t about fighting harder.
Maybe tonight isn’t about figuring everything out.
Maybe tonight’s act of faith is ridiculously simple:
GO. TO. BED. ππ€£π
Rest is not quitting.
Crying is not quitting.
Saying βI cannot carry another thing tonightβ is not quitting.
Sometimes perseverance looks like marching forward. πͺπ½π₯
And sometimes perseverance looks like crawling underneath the covers, handing tomorrow back to God and saying:
βYour shift, Jesus. I’m clocking out.β ππ€£ππ½π
And for my friends who don’t believe as I do, hear the heart of this anyway:
Don’t make permanent conclusions from an exhausted moment.
You don’t have to solve your entire life tonight.
You don’t have to know who you’re becoming tonight.
You don’t even have to feel hopeful tonight.
Rest.
Let morning come before you decide what tomorrow means. β€οΈ
π TONIGHT’S VICTORY
I almost gave up.
ALMOST.
But almost ain’t DID. ππ―
I’m still here.
Still hurting. π€
Still crying. π’
Still heartbroken. π
Still overwhelmed. π΅βπ«
Still me.
And apparently God and I are not finished yet. ππ½β€οΈβπ₯
So that’s enough.
Beloved, go to bed. ππ₯°
The questions can wait.
The grief will still have room tomorrow.
Nothing has to be fixed tonight.
We made it through today.
And that, my friends, is enough. β€οΈβπ©Ή
Goodnight. π€π’ππ½ββοΈππ½ππ΅βπ«πππ½β€οΈ

ππ JESUS, THERE ARE NOT ENOUGH TEARS IN THE OCEAN
What Do We Do With Our Hearts Now?
Beloveds,
Jesusβ¦ ππ
There are not enough tears in the ocean for some kinds of heartbreak.
There aren’t enough words.
There aren’t enough prayers that come out neatly.
There aren’t enough βI’m okayβs to make us okay.
Sometimes all we have is:
Ah, Godβ¦ what do we do with our hearts now? ππππ½
And maybe today somebody reading this is asking another question:
WHO CARES?
Who cares that I am hurting?
Who cares that something I loved has changed?
Who cares that I’m trying to hold myself together while something inside me feels absolutely shattered?
Who cares about the tears I don’t let anybody see?
Who cares when I don’t even have the strength to explain why I’m crying?
For me, the answer is:
YOU DO, JESUS. β€οΈ
You care.
Not only when I am praising. ππ½ππ½
Not only when I’m strong. πͺπ½
Not only when I’m encouraging everybody else.
Not only when Cassandra has something funny to say. π π
You care about this Cassandra too.
The one with tears running down her face. π
The one whose heart hurts. π
The one who doesn’t have a clever lesson wrapped up with a pretty bow today.
The one who can only whisper:
Jesus, please hold what I cannot carry. ππ½πβ€οΈ
And THAT is something I want somebody else to know today.
π STOP TRYING TO MAKE GRIEF PRETTY.
Some pain is ugly.
Some grief is confusing.
Sometimes faith sounds like HALLELUJAH! ππ½
And sometimes faith sounds like:
βJesusβ¦help.β
That’s it.
One word.
Help.
πππ½
You don’t have to manufacture strength you don’t have.
You don’t have to rush yourself into gratitude because somebody is uncomfortable with your sadness.
You don’t have to turn every tear into a testimony before you’ve even finished crying it.
Sometimes love simply sits beside a broken heart and says:
βI’m staying.β β€οΈπ«
And if you’re loving somebody who is hurting today, please don’t make their pain compete with your desire to fix it.
Don’t immediately tell them what lesson they should learn.
Don’t hurry them.
Don’t compare their grief to somebody else’s.
Don’t tell them to βlook on the bright side.β
Sometimes the most loving thing you can do is sit there and say:
βI care. I’m here. You don’t have to explain.β π«β€οΈ
THAT is love in action. π¬π
ππ½ FOR THOSE WHO BELIEVE
Jesus Himself wept.
βJesus wept.β β John 11:35 KJV
Two words.
And I love those two words today.
Because they remind me that tears do not frighten God.
And Scripture says:
βThe LORD is nigh unto them that are of a broken heartβ¦β β Psalm 34:18 KJV
So today I’m not asking God to pretend my heart isn’t broken.
I’m asking Him to come near it.
Sit with me here, Jesus. πππ½
Hold every piece.
Hold the memories.
Hold the questions.
Hold what I understand.
Hold what I absolutely DO NOT understand. ππ
And when I don’t know what to do with my heartβ¦
You do. β€οΈ
π AND IF JESUS ISN’T YOUR ANSWER
You are still welcome here.
Your tears matter too.
Your grief doesn’t need my theology before it deserves my compassion.
If today all you can believe is that another human being should care when somebody hurts, start there.
Sit beside somebody.
Listen.
Call.
Text.
Check in.
Be gentle.
And if you’re the one hurting, give yourself permission to say:
βThis hurts.β
No apology.
No shame.
No performance.
Just truth. β€οΈβπ©Ή
π TODAY’S LOVE CHALLENGE
Find one hurting heart today.
Maybe it’s somebody else’s.
Maybe it’s yours.
Don’t fix it.
LOVE IT.
Give it room.
Give it patience.
Give it tenderness.
Give it permission to cry. ππ«π
π TODAY’S VICTORY
If you cried and kept breathingβ¦
Victory.
If you admitted, βI’m hurtingββ¦
Victory.
If you reached for Godβ¦
Victory.
If you reached for another personβ¦
Victory.
If you couldn’t do anything except make it through the last five minutesβ¦
VICTORY. ππβ€οΈ
Because sometimes courage doesn’t roar.
Sometimes courage sits in a puddle of tears and whispers:
βI’m still here.β
And todayβ¦
I’m still here. πβ€οΈβπ©Ήππ½
So are you.
Maybe neither one of us knows exactly what to do with our hearts right now.
But we don’t have to figure out the rest of our lives today.
Today we can cry.
Today we can love.
Today we can let ourselves be loved.
And tomorrow?
We’ll take another step.
One step. One step. One step. π£β€οΈ
Come back. We’re going to keep talking about the HOW of loveβhow to love when we’re grieving, how to sit with somebody else’s pain without trying to control it, and how to keep a tender heart when life gives us every reason to build a wall around it. ππ§±β‘οΈβ€οΈ
Because love isn’t only what we feel when everything is beautiful.
Sometimes love is what stays when everything hurts.
And Scripture reminds me:
βAnd now these three remain: faith, hope and love. But the greatest of these is love.β β 1 Corinthians 13:13 NIV β€οΈ

π IF YOU’RE NOT HERE πΆβ€οΈβπ₯
August 14, 2026
Who Are YOU Swooning Over? ππ₯°ππ½
Beloveds,
Ohhhh, here I go again. π
πΆπ
I absolutely LOVE singing love songs to My Bestie, Jesus. β€οΈβοΈπ₯°
And today it’s βIf You’re Not Here.β
Because sometimes I hear a love song and immediately think:
Yep. That’s me and Jesus. π€£πππ½
I can swoon over Him. π₯°
I can sing terribly loud to Him. π€π
I can cry with Him. πβ€οΈ
I can laugh with Him. π€£
I can tell Him when I’m grateful. ππ½
I can tell Him when I’m hurt. π
I can even tell Him when I’m confused, irritated, tired, or making an absolute mess of things. π©π΅βπ«π€£
And He stays. β€οΈ
That’s what gets me.
Not some cleaned-up, polished version of me.
ME.
The laughing me. π€£
The crying me. π
The stubborn me. π¬
The grateful me. ππ½
The heartbroken me. π
The hopeful me. π±
The Lord, I have absolutely no idea what I’m doing me. π« π
And somehow, through ALL of it, I keep discovering another layer of love.
Maybe that’s one reason love songs hit differently for me now. πΆπ
I’m not only hearing romance.
I’m hearing presence.
I’m hearing:
I’m here.
I’m hearing:
You don’t have to perform for love.
I’m hearing:
You can bring your whole messy self and still be loved.
WHEW. πβ€οΈβπ₯ππ½
π‘ AND THAT GOT ME THINKING…
Who are YOU swooning over? π
Your spouse? πβ€οΈ
Your sweetheart? π₯°
Your children? π¨βπ©βπ§βπ¦
Your family? π
Your best friend? π€
God? ππ½
Jesus? βοΈβ€οΈ
Maybe even LIFE itself after surviving something you weren’t sure you’d make it through? π»
And here’s an even bigger question:
Do the people you love KNOW how much you love them? πβ€οΈ
Because love shouldn’t live only inside our heads.
Sometimes you’ve got to SAY IT. π£οΈπ
Sometimes you’ve got to SHOW IT. π€
Sometimes you’ve got to put down the phone, swallow your pride, make the call, give the hug, apologize, forgive, listen, show up, or simply say:
βI’m glad you’re here.β β€οΈ
That’s part of learning the HOW of love.
Love isn’t merely something we feel.
Love becomes visible through what we DO. π¬π
β€οΈ FOR MY FELLOW BELIEVERS
Jesus said:
βAs the Father hath loved me, so have I loved you: continue ye in my love.β β John 15:9 KJV
And this one gets me every single time:
βWe love him, because he first loved us.β β 1 John 4:19 KJV
THAT’S IT. πππ½β€οΈ
I’m swooning over the One who loved me FIRST.
Before I understood love.
Before I got everything right.
Before I learned how to extend grace to myself or anybody else.
He loved me first. π₯ΉβοΈβ€οΈ
π AND IF FAITH ISN’T YOUR THING…
You’re still invited into this conversation. π
Think about the personβor peopleβwhose presence makes your world a little warmer.
Tell them.
Love them intentionally.
And if nobody comes to mind right now, start by practicing some tenderness toward yourself. β€οΈ
You are somebody worth treating with compassion too.
π TODAY’S LOVE CHALLENGE
Think of ONE person you absolutely adore.
Then don’t merely think about them.
SHOW THEM.
Send the text. π±β€οΈ
Make the call. βοΈ
Give the compliment. π₯°
Say thank you. ππ½
Play your song. πΆ
Tell them exactly what their presence means to you.
And if you’re like me…
Go ahead and serenade Jesus. π€βοΈπ€£π
He has heard worse. Probably from me THIS MORNING. ππ€£π€£π€£
π TODAY’S VICTORY
If you loved somebody intentionally todayβeven in one tiny wayβ
COUNT IT.
That’s a victory. ππ
We’re learning that love isn’t just the big dramatic stuff.
It’s practiced in little moments, over and over again.
So come along with me as we keep digging into the HOW and WHY of loveβhow we give it, receive it, repair it, practice it, and become better at showing it. β€οΈβπ₯
Because I’m convinced:
LOVE IS SOMETHING WE CAN LEARN TO DO BETTER. π―β€οΈ
And me?
I’m going back to singing to My Bestie. ππΆβοΈ
Jesus, if You’re listening…
THIS NEXT ONE IS FOR YOU! π€π€£π₯°β€οΈβπ₯ππ½
