Ugly.
Unwanted.
Unpopular.
If I ad a dollar dor every time I have been called ugly, growing up, I would be a billionaire.
I have been thinking about life. A lot. My life, in particular. Other folks live early and often.
For perhaps the first time, I wonder if my care would have been so caring had I been “acceptable” back then?
Would I try so hard to let folk know they are loved and not alone if I had not grown up lonely and alone?
Would my try try so hard to encourage others to not give up, even as I had to fight to stay encouraged all these years?
Would I love God so much because He loves me no matter what, given I felt so little love for so many years?
Ah, beloveds, I can’t really answer that, can I?
All I can do and have done, is to have used all of the ugly; the name calling, the isolation, the eating at the lunch table alone, to propel to and through a life of love.
I’m not ashamed of me. I’m not ashamed to be ugly. I think I am beautiful. Inside and out.
I am overweight. So what?
I have never elicited cat calls from men who should have known better than turning women into trophies and mirrors to make themselves feel better. So what?
I have never lived amidst trappings that enticed the eye and made me a supposed envy for folk to want to emulate. So what?
I’m me. Unapologetically. I have a ridiculous laugh. I tell dumb jokes. I have a huge heart. I have a Buddha belly a wise man would be honored to lay upon knowing the priceless heart that resides inside me.
The world may call me/think me ugly.
Ugliness makes me beautiful.
loving me some me,
Cassandra
#YourLifeMattersToMe
Note: I write these words for all the folk who are running around feeling like an imposter. Too many feel worthless because of what they have been told through their lives.
Others feel this way because they believe they need to live amongst wealth in order to be valued and feel valuable.
Each of us has value. Each of us are worthy of time and care.
I plan on spending the rest of my ugly life uplifting others and finding the beauty in the ugliest things. Be encouraged.
One step.
One step.
One step.
You are loved.
You are NOT alone.
Keep on being…YOU!
